SJSU Spring 2017 (Questions/Comments/Concerns)

I looked around to see if anyone had started a thread but nothing

I'm very anxious since its been like 2-3 years in the making and the moment is finally here. I'm especially anxious because I had high doubts about actually being competitive, but with my current stats I would have been accepted for fall 2016. I just don't want to mess anything up in the application process ;( and I'm still debating if I should apply to other schools... can anyone provide any advice :D

I believe you fill out the substitution form if its not matriculated and send it to sjsu to a specific email... If its for SJSU. If its for another school I'm really not sure. The closest mention I found was this: "When you have finished entering your prerequisite coursework, return to the Program Materials section of your application and identify the courses that fulfill each of your program prerequisites." Can anyone else help?

Here's what I found about the WST:

"(This will be uploaded to NursingCAS): Documentation of a passing score on the SJSU Writing Skills Test (WST) exam- see page 1 ofthis packet and advising slides."

page 1:

"Writing Skills Test (WST)- allow 3 months prior to applying to Nursing for results to be returned & applying to Nursing.Contact Testing and Evaluation, Testing Office | San Jose State University or call (408) 924-5980, for information about taking the following tests:Entry Level Math (ELM) Test, Writing Skills Test (WST), the TEAS test, and English Placement Test (EPT). The WST is required forenrollment in the university's upper division (Advanced) GE courses, called SJSU studies”. The upper division writing requirement fornursing (advanced GE) includes admission to HPRF 100W or Nurs 100W and is restricted to majors in health professions. Nursingstudents may enroll in specific designated 100W courses (see co-requisites), after admission to the major and satisfactory completion ofthe WST (Note: WST passing results must be recorded before applying to nursing). For this reason, the School of Nursing advisesthat students take the WST at least 5 months prior to applying to the nursing program. Test results may take 6 weeks for results to getposted. If enrolled at another CSU, and you have taken the equivalent of the WST exam there, contact SJSU's testing office directly."

.... so I guess we do nothing as long as it's recorded on mysjsu.... right?

Yeah i totally get you about the messing up. I checked the requirements a million times and I'm still scared of messing up... Hopefully transcripts go smoothly.

I'm 90% sure that for the WST score, you don't need to turn in any paperwork. As long as you took the WST, and the score is posted on mysjsu, you're fine. That's my interpretation (or was)

EDIT:

Wait guys, I think I found the answer.

In NursingCAS, for the SJSU application, it says this.

"2. WST Form - You must achieve a passing score on the WST exam to be eligible. Upload the printout of the WST test results. Please note that we will accept the result of the WST offered on September 17th at SJSU, but that your application will not be reviewed until you upload the result into the NursingCAS documents section.

Looks like you need to printout your WST score, scan it, and upload it.

but does it have to be the official score report or just a screen shot off of mysjsu where it says your actual WST score? I'm still confused

Just wanted to make sure but we can send our SJSU transcripts electronically because its part of the credentials solutions right? No need for the transcript request form?

I sent it electronically and its already on my NursingCAS profile so I assume everything went smoothly. When you do it, it says something about you including the correct code from the transcript request form and they will automatically generate the form for you so you don't need to include the transcript request form. As long as you include the correct code, you should be ok cause that's how I did it and its already on my profile.

Hey everyone! Quick question! If you took the TEAS at SJSU, do we still have to go to the ATI website and send them our score or whats the process to do it?

And also the WST too! thanks for letting me know.

I'm pretty sure we don't need to send the TEAS score to SJSU.

All you need to do is upload your TEAS report to NursingCAS. Basically, log into your ATI account, choose your best TEAS test score and click on it. It should bring you up to "Individual Performance Profile", and on the top right, there is the button for "Download Report". I downloaded it as a pdf and uploaded the score report to NursingCAS.

For the WST, I'm doing something similar. (I'm taking a screenshot of my WST score from mysjsu.)

Last Friday during the Pre-nursing Group advising meeting, Prof. Malloy said that for the TEAS score, as long as there is a name and score on the image or screenshot you upload, you're fine. For the WST, I assume the same.
