Hey guys! I thought I should start this thread as the semester/quarters are coming to an end and bringing us closer to submitting the application! I just want to get a general idea of the pool applicant for the Fall 2015 semester.
Does anyone know the cutoff for Spring 2015?
Fall 2014 cutoff was 7.35 so it probably raised.
PreReq GPA - 3.80
TEAS - 86.5 % (plan on retaking it)
impaction score - 7.56
I hope I can get a better score after retaking the TEAS V!
when do you think they will tell us if we get the campus we have asked for? This is for csueb. Maybe this question should not be in this thread!
Check this out for CSUEB:

Hi everyone, I'm hoping to apply for the nursing program. I went to Ohlone for two years, transferred to SJSU and I am finishing up my second semester and all my prereqs. I plan to take the TEAs test this summer. I spoke with an advisor in the nursing department here and she says I will not be able to take a third semester since I am undeclared. I am hoping to apply for Spring 2016, however when do I take my 100W? I thought I had to take that BEFORE I applied to nursing, but turns out I can't because I have to declare nursing first. Not sure what to do. Any transfer students experience this? Also, how do you apply for nursing programs at other schools if you need to be a student at that school first? For example, would I have to apply to SFSU, wait to be admitted.. AND THEN apply to the nursing program?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!
Hi!
I can only speak to applying as a 2nd Bacc student, not a transfer student from another college, but from what I have seen, most of the CA state schools have you apply to the college in the fall (Oct-Nov) and then you apply to the nursing program a bit later on (Jan-Feb of the following year).
So you don't wait to hear from the college before you apply to nursing.
The schools then let you know that getting in to the nursing program is contingent on being accepted to both the University AND the School of Nursing.
Basically, if you receive an acceptance to one, but not the other, you're unfortunately not truly accepted.
My biggest piece of advice is to find out when the different schools have info sessions and attend them as soon as possible. Even amongst the CA state schools there are a mix of different requirements. I ended up creating an excel spreadsheet to keep track of them all.
Best of luck!
Hey Casey,
As a transfer student you need to apply to the university first then to the nursing program. You need to do your research and know the different deadlines for each school you plan to apply to. Moreover, you need to note the different requirements necessary for each school.
On the other hand, SJSU requires all applicants to take the WST before applying to the nursing program. This writing exam determines if you need to take 100W your first semester or not. Therefore, register early for the WST and do not forget to take it. I had friends that did not have the opportunity to apply to SJSU Nursing Program due to the fact they misunderstood if WST was required or not. (The WST can only be taken at SJSU.)
The best advice I can give to you right now is keep your grades up and try to score high on your TEAS and pass the WST if you plan to go to SJSU.
Good luck! On a side note, I also transferred from Ohlone College. I hope you had Kauffman, she was a great teacher!

Sorry for the late reply! Okay, so I've been attending SJSU for two semesters already. I am taking next fall off because I am still undeclared and was told by an advisor that I couldn't take classes in a third semester if I'm still undeclared. I have already taken and passed the WST. I recently took the TEAS test and passed that with an 88 (although I plan on retaking it in hopes of raising my impaction score a bit). I guess what I'm trying to ask is... can I take the 100W before getting accepted into the nursing program or am I supposed to take it upon getting accepted?
I greatly appreciate your help! :)
