Sjsu fall 2013 hopefuls

Is there anyone here that is applying to the San Jose State University nursing program for Fall 2013?!

In regards to the 2 classes that need to be done before the end of the first semester, are we going to have to be taking more than a full load with the other core classes on the semester plan? Guess I can find out at the advising session but was wondering if you guys knew. Also, are we nursing guaranteed spots in the classes we need since we are in an actual program?

you're talking about the corequisites, hup/chad67 and the nurs/hprof 100w class right? according to this handbook i found (page 8), hup/chad 67 needs to be completed before the nursing semester 2. so i guess you have to take it along with our four nursing semester 1 classes - which would come out to be a total of 14 units (i don't think it's possible to also take the 100w class for a total of 17 units because sjsu has a 15 unit cap, but you can take it during nursing semester 2 since it needs to be completed within the first year of nursing). there's also this pdf that might be helpful.

Thanks rustandstardust, are all you guys going to the advising on the 10th?

:/ What sucks is that if you're transferring, you have to attend the transfer orientation and the only open date available is August 7th. You have to go to the orientation before registering for classes so I guess I'll be getting the last spots in classes? Or does anyone know if it's different for the nursing program?

Also did anyone else get a call and email saying that their response papers were not received yet? I mailed mine on Thursday and paid for next day delivery. I just tracked it and it said that it was delivered. My friend got the same email and call.

Don't worry about space for courses in the nursing program. They are designed to accommodate all 60 of us, plus one or two students that get held back a semester (if you fail even one course, you have to spend another semester passing it before you move on). You may notice that some previous sections go up to 65 slots. Once you are in the program, you are guaranteed space in its classes.

Advising is more for students intending to apply within the next nine months, but I would definitely recommend it for getting your questions answered in person, as often the undergraduate coordinator is the one to show.

"The following courses are co-requisites and may be in progress at the time of the application submission. However, with

the exception of CD 67, the remaining 3 courses must be completed within one year of admission to the nursing major

(i.e., by the completion of Nursing’s Semester 2). CD 67/ HUP 67 is done the first semester of the nursing program or

before.

PSYC 1 General Psychology 3 units*

NUFS 8 Nutrition for Health Professions 3 units

KIN/CD/HUP 67 Development of Human Potential 3 units * (prior to beginning or within 1

semester being accepted)

HPROF 100W Writing for Health Professions 3 units

KIN/CD 67 and NUFS 8 I'm pretty sure are classes available during the summer at a community college as well.

All the courses except for HPROF 100W can be done before hand at a community college. Or if you are already a SJSU student, you can get HPROF 100W done once you've completed 60 semester units or more.

Yup, 100W is part of Area Z for upper div ge's @ SJSU. For those planning on taking Chad 67 during the first semester of the nursing program shouldn't worry about the workload; it's an easy ge class.

Woo! Good to know.

So are there any others changing their mind about SJ. I just found yesterday I'm #5 on the waiting list. I'm just praying more spots open up!! But I know yesterday Sac State announced the people they choose and SF did too early this week. Just 5 more spots .... I'm keeping the faith :)
