Sjsu fall 2013 hopefuls

Is there anyone here that is applying to the San Jose State University nursing program for Fall 2013?!

i'm amy :) i went on amazon and put all of the books (excluding ati) in a cart to see how much it would come out to be....$558 including s/h.

Whao thats expensive, so everything could be found on amazon right? Do we really need to purchase their "bundle"? I feel like their bundle is a ripoff lol

Agreed with the ripoff. But after calculating the costs, the addition of digital books are only going to cost an extra $100-$200 (from SJSU bundle). I understand for some the extra hundred or two might be much, but it is convenient....and maybe that's all, a convenience. I try to purchase most of my books from half.com and almost always used, but considering that these books are going to be used as reference for some more semesters, I'm thinking of purchasing the bundle...but only if I find my budget allows me.

Does anyone know if there is anything else we need to be doing right now? I just got my hep B titter test done but won't get my results till Tuesday. And I understand that they don't want us getting anymore vaccinations until after the workshop. This is correct right?

Do we just register on our registration date and then just go to the workshop on August 16th? Is that all?

When is your registration appointment?

Also...when are you planning on getting your R, S, V courses done? The semesters seem tough enough as it is.

Sorry for all the questions...I just have so many...

wait...we have to register for workshop????????

@kittycat123 What year are you? Im already done with my R,S,V,Z last year, they are easy except for the 100W HPRF.

But I am taking class for my minor, I am worried too.

Oh look, we both have cat related SNs..lol meow

oh i thought we're just automatically registered for the workshop hahah what date is it on btw?

Haha. Sorry for the confusion. We don't have to register for the workshop, just classes...sometime in mid June.

I'm a transfer student, so I haven't completed any of the SJSU studies.

The workshop is in August. It's just weird to think that We have nothing else to do right now but wait...

BigCat, was the 100W HPRF course pretty tough? Are there any skill I can work at now so that the course would be easier?

Thanks

Well different teachers have different ways , i had shelley ash, she is overall easy, but there is alot of writing and work, not too bad though, its definetly easier than physio in sjsu, (which is verry hard)

Anyway, there is nothing much to prepare for .. Um maybe think about how to write essays without having the word "it"( her pet peeve).. And have a big research paper topic ready, such as ( heart disease amoung latino woman) random example, yepp!

Its not that bad no worries

Btw...anyone know what time and where the workshop day Aug 16 is?

I think they'll let us know when & where the workshop is later on. I've already done all my SJSU Studies too! There are some easy upper division GE classes so you just gotta look and read the reviews on the professors. 100W is an easy writing workshop too. I had Michele Bondi and she was very lenient & understanding on deadlines and other assignments.

And we have to do the Health Statement from our doctor/physician by the New Student Workshop I believe.

Don't purchase books from the sjsu bookstore! They're so expensive for all classes. I'm trying to find nursing students who have already finished with Semester 1 textbooks.

Hi all,

I just finished my first semester of SJSU S.O.N. Also, if you haven't yet done 100w I highly reccomend taking it in the winter if it's offered (I am guessing it is too late to take it this summer) I know a few classmates that really struggled with having to take 100w with first semester of nursing classes and there are some that will have to take it with second semester which we have heard is even more difficult than the first. It's not impossible and can be done, just avoid it if you can. let me know if you have anymore questions!

@Krioh how is the first semester? Is it tough? Are you selling your 1st semester everything? If so..how much?

Have anyone applied for "afterschoolnursing scholarships"? It was in an email
