Sitting on the fence between two LPN programs.

Hello to all!

Thanks in advance for any advice or input offered.

Here's 2 programs i'm looking into, but I can't decide and time is running out. Both start new month and i've already paid my registration fee to one of them.

Program #1: Ruby's Academy for Health Occupation(10min from my home), Fl board approved & OES accredited, old school/new lpn program, 12mth,m-th/5-10pm,14k(no financial assistance avail.), no definate days for clinical (start a few wk into program), they've said clinicals will be evenings and weekends.

My draw back to this program is price, and clinical hours could possibly be on the weekends. This would mean I would be away from my home, kids, and hubby possibly 7 days a week. I will be working in the day hours M-F. Yes, I have taken into account the severity of the program and the time it will involve. But, if I dont have to be away on the weekends this would give me 2 days to do the neccessary.

Program #2: Vintex Institute(25min away from home), Fl board approved, old school name/new location & program at this location, 14mth, m-th/5:30-10:30 & fri. when clinicals start, 8k(no financial assistance avail.), wed & thur clinical(6mth into program).

My draw back to this program.........ummm only the distance. I found one student that did complete the program, passed the nclex, and have a job; which is good.

Even though i've already paid my reg. fee for program# 1, i'm really leaning towards #2. It would allow me the time on the weekends, money in my pocket, and clinicals don't start so early into the program.

If you have anything to offer that would help me see this differently or something you're viewing about the scenario that I may not be considering, please point it out.

Although school number 2 is a little further, I would choose that school. You will have more money in your pockets time to spend with the hubby and kids, and days available to get things done and it is cheaper. 25 mins isnt that bad of a commute IMO

Select the school with the cheapest tuition. In the long run, both educations will result in the exact same LPN license, so you might as well save several thousand dollars along the way.

I would say program number two, tuition cost, time with your family, and twenty five mins isn't bad. Plus you found a student that went there and passed the NCLEX. Seems like a no- brainer to me. What part of Fl are you in?

Program#2 would be my choice.

I'd love a 25 minute commute. I am currently commuting 90 minutes one way to clinical.

School #2. It may be 2 extra months, but clinicals don't start right away and you get more time with your family.

Looks like ill be attending my first option.The school affiliated with second option is on probationary period and if they dont have a satisfactory rate for 2013 the program will be closed down

I feel the first option will better prepare me but at a higher price. Even though the price and schedule is perfect I better pull myself out of this before my $$ is gone and no license to show for it.
