I have mono. (Aren't I too old for mono?) I also start a new job on Monday. I've had mono for about three weeks (was misdiagnosed for the first two) and can do nice things like swallow, stay awake, and walk across the room. The first week of my new job is all sitting and training, which is good.
Any tips on recovery? I'm eating well, resting, taking echinacea, etc. I'm terrified of another relapse- this is my first one, since I didn't get a diagnosis of mono and forced myself to work/ exercise/ etc. when I felt the slightest bit better.

Of course follow your MD's plan of care and communicate well with them...they know your medical history as we don't. We actually can't give medical advice on this forum so try this link to start your quest to finding answers or even questions to ask you own Physician.

Hi!
Sounds like you are doing all the right things. I had mono years ago
and found that I had to adjust my schedule even after deemed better.
It will take a while to feel like yourself again.
Getting plenty of rest and eating healthy is really important.
Don't forget to recheck with your MD if you are into active
sports. Let him or her medically clear you first. Sometimes students
return to soon, and you could be at potential risk if you return
before being evaluated and cleared... It's safer to have a
recheck with your MD anyway...
Hope you feel better real soon!

I had mono really bad when I was younger, the only thing that I could do was sleep. It was awful. Once I started feeling better though I still rested as much as I could because when I would do too much I would start to feel really bad again. So between now and your new job rest up as much as you can and try not to do too much, you don't want to make it any worse! Good luck and feel better!
