Sierra College Letters?

Published

Hello to all!

Has anyone received their letters from Sierra College (Rocklin, CA) yet?

I'll admit I'm not the most patient person in the world, but now that classes are almost over, I'm wondering what to do with myself!

I'm finishing up my last prereq now, (Physio) and will be taking Anthro 2 over the summer.

All I have to do is wait....geez it's tough! Sierra is the only school I applied to for the Fall. Most of the other schools I'm looking at require all the prereqs are completed; I guess I'll be applying to at least 4 schools for the Spring!

Thanks for letting me vent; now back to studying! ;)

Update to all (if anybody cares :twocents:) :

Denied from Sierra for the third time.

Denied from Sac City for the first time.

Cabrillo College #392 on their wait list (my last choice school).

Shasta College #153 on their wait list.

College of the Redwoods #26 on their wait list for Fall 2009 (The only bright spot)

I still haven't heard from ARC...could this be a good sign at this point? I spent part of last night tossing & turning in bed thinking that they have tossed out my application because, even though I handed it at physically, I am worried that I forgot to write on the outside of the manila envelope (I honestly don't remember if I did or not, and it's killing me!!)

Hey, and thanks to everyone who has been so supportive these past months! I also want to congratulate my friend and co-worker Star for getting accepted to Sierra! (I don't even know if she's on this, board I hope she sees it!:D)

I'm sorry to hear about the lovely "denial letters." I know how it feels, though I guess I will be starting the Fall semester with your friend! I have only heard of two others accepted to Sierra (through this board). I would like to hear from others.

You will get in...I know how frustrating it is.

I am right there with ya.... 4th time for ARC, 4th time for SCC, 3rd time for Sierra, ALL DENIED ME for fall 08......:crying2: I am on Yuba's waitlist. Hopefully only one more year for Yuba (eventhough I am in Sac). It is very frustrating but what can you do? What is longest someone has applied? Anyone know?

Is there anyone else that was accepted to Sierra for Fall 08 out there??:specs:

I got my letter from Sierra College last week and I was not selected for the program. This is my first time applying and I applied to 3 diff schools. I still have not heard back for ARC. I finished my prereqs in 1 and a half years and I'm doing volunteer work at a hospital and taking a foreign language class while I wait to keep myself busy. Last semester they changed the rules on prereqs because there are enough students applying that have their prereqs finished, so they don't need to take applicants that still have an open class. That bummed me out cause I was planning on applying last October. A counselor at ARC told me the average wait was about 1 1/2 to 2 years. I suggest you do alot of volunteering so you get your feet wet, and take Spanish classes because it will benefit you immensely when you are an RN. Also, take you coreqs too, (Speech and Sociology or Anthro), before you get in the program because you won't have time when you're in. Good luck to all of us! We will all get in sooner or later!

Amen... I admire your positive attitude. Luckily I am completely done with all pre-req's. I have done all of the co-reqs too. So where do you volunteer at?

I do my volunteer at Shriner's Children's hospital in Sac. Are you a student a at Sierra also?

I have been in your shoes many times.

I struggled to stay motivated to re-apply each semester. I have spent the last 2 years applying locally (ARC, SCC and Sierra) and to schools out of my area (Yuba) with completed pre-req's and this time I was finally accepted.

The last 2 years have been really hard on me. I went through some highs and lows but the most frustrating part was getting the denial letters.

My best advice for you guys that are going through this right now is to take a step back, say to yourself " Since I didn't get it this semester, what classes could I take to help me be more prepared for when I am in the program".

I did that for 3 semesters and I found that it really helped me stay motivated. After taking Med Terminology, Med Dosage, Pharmacology, 2 Upper division English classes, Spanish, and tutoring A&P students for 3 semesters I feel that I am one of the most prepared students starting 1st semester.

I tried to focus the energy on improving my skills so that I would be well rounded and overall as prepared as I possibly could. I didn't want to look back and say that "I could have" learned more or gotten more comfortable with the support material. You can't take that time back, but you can make the most of it while it is there.

I want to guys to know that it will happen for you, but you have to stay persistent and you have to keep applying! This experience will make you stronger and it will make you want to pass those nursing classes even more.

I know what you are going through because I have been there many times, it is hard. What I have learned out of this experience is Persistence, Patience and Perseverance pays off!

(( Big Hug ))

No I did not take any of my classes at Sierra. I am taking online Pharm at Yuba, I take my final tonight. I am taking Pathophyiology online this summer at Yuba. Then I am taking Med Term this fall online at ARC. So do you like volunteering at Shriner's? Was it difficult to begin volunteering? :wink2:
