Sierra College Fall 2011 Nursing program

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi everyone!

I'm just wondering if anyone is going to Sierra College this Fall 2011? I posted a while back, before I got my acceptance letter, and didn't get any response. I hope to "meet" some of you before school starts! :-)

Hi dia1010usa. If you go to the school website and find the link to the nursing program you will find all the information you are looking for. All the nursing programs you mentioned pick students through a lottery type systems... best of luck to your daughter.

I will probably take the next test today or tomorrow. When do you planning on taking the next one? Do you have all your orientation items finished?

Did you find OWL useful?

I did find OWL useful! What a great site! :-) Thank you. Other than the Kahn academy one, I'm not really using anything... just studying out of my old A&P book, micro, and chemistry books/notes. I kind of feel like it's all coming together, but then I question if I am studying the right things? I took practice test A again yesterday, and I did much better (85%), but I already took the test before so I don't think it is very accurate. I am just soooooo nervous about the whole test Stephanie!!

I do believe I have everything needed for orientation. I even got to try on the hideous uniforms. LOL How about you? Do you have everything completed? What areas are focusing your studying on most at this point?

Wow, you did great on your practice test! I have been focusing on grammar and math quite a bit. I am now working through science again. I am having trouble with chem. I took it so long ago so it is taking me a little longer to wrap my brain around it. I am nervous for the test too. I think with the score you got on your practice test, you should be fine.

I ordered my uniform yesterday and I still need to pay for the ATI materials. Did you have the option of taking a pencil paper test or computer test for the TEAS?

I bet you will do great too!!! I really think the reason I did so well is because I took the test a few weeks ago....

As far as studying goes, I focused a lot on chemistry... I probably spent 5 days on it until I finally got it! LOL I'm struggling with other science details like amino acids, proteins, transcription, translation, etc. I'm also not very good at predicting a conclusion on the reading comprehension. LOL They all seem correct to me!

I did not have the option of taking a paper pencil or computer test... did you? I think paper pencil would be easier to focus on, but I don't know if I could wait for the results! :-)

I am having trouble with the reading passages too. So in chem I am having trouble with polar and nonpolar, gases, and determining which has been reduced or oxidized. I am going to spend time today trying to figure it all out. Do you have any suggestions?

I am going to register today for the TEAS, so no I am not sure if we have the option to have pencil paper or computer, but I would rather have a pencil paper test.

Are the uniforms really hideous? What kind of shoes are you going to get? I have heard dansko are the best, but white shoes...yuck! Oh well I guess we will all look the same:)

Oh my... I didn't realize we had to register for the TEAS?!?! I'm going to have to go back through the e-mails and figure it all out... I thought we paid for the test on Monday?.. Thank you for mentioning it!!!

Ok... remember OIL RIG... oxidation is loss, reduction is gain. The horizontal number on the top of the periodic table is the number of Valence electrons... Group 1A, 2A and 3A are all cations, with a +1, +2,+3 charge respectively. Group 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A are all anions, with charges -4,-3,-2,-1 respectively. Group 8A are your noble gases. MOST covalent bonds are formed between a non-metal and a non-metal. MOST ionic bonds are formed between a metal and a non metal. A non-polar covalent bond is typically b/c the elements have the same charge, and a polar bond is typically with a + and -... like H2O.

I hope that makes sense.... Also, remember that Florine is your most electronegative element.

Thanks!

Ok I am not sure if we are registering for the test or not. I thought we were, but I haven't done any of the ATI stuff needed for school. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks tstic364 for the links.

Anyone suggest which book is good for TEAS? Anyone selling that book after you pass your TEAS? I'm here in Roseville area.

Dear Theresa ans Stephanie,

I was selected to the nursing program for Sept 11. I have a question for both of you. I follow all the direction we were asked for the preparing for the testing and the orientation. Can you please let me know, because I just don't get it, how come we spending all this great amount of money and we not even passed the test? I'm so stressed about it. I have been studying So much but still not doing that well on the testing.

Please Help, I will greatly appreciate your response.
