Sierra College Fall 2011 Nursing program

U.S.A. California

Hi everyone!

I'm just wondering if anyone is going to Sierra College this Fall 2011? I posted a while back, before I got my acceptance letter, and didn't get any response. I hope to "meet" some of you before school starts! :-)

Hey Stephanie-

Have you started your Nurse Logic tutorials? I just completed the critical reading section and post test. I understood the material for the critical reading portion, but the test portion was asking specific nursing type questions which we haven't studied yet. Do you know if we have to get 90% on the Nurse Logic section, or is it just the Skill's modules?

Thank you!!!

That is a good question. I know we need to complete the skill modules with a 90% but it doesn't say anything about the nurse logic section. I would email Prof. and see what she wants us to do. I haven't completed mine yet. Let me know what you find out.

Thanks,

Steph

Hey Steph.... I heard back from the teacher and she said we do not need to achieve 90% on the nurse logic section.... phew!!! :-)

That's good:) I haven't got that far yet, was the test difficult or is it like the practice questions in the module? Also, she said we need to remidiate if we didn't get a 90% on the critical thinking assesment, have you done that yet? On mine it says there is no remidation available. What does yours say?

The test was hard b/c we haven't learned the information yet. The questions were worded like what you will see in the critical reading section. The questions were not content based on critical reading, but worded the way they teach you in that section based on nursing info.... that probably doesn't make much sense, but you will see when you get to it.

I did do the remediation... on your student home page click on publications under resources. There you should see "Quest for Academic Success" Click on that and this is your remediation. There are no questions, just a short slideshow type thing.

I looked up books at Banes and Noble, and for everything (books 1-15) it was a little under $900... I might go that route, but I'm waiting for Sierra College to put out their book list to make sure the price is really $938. Who knows, maybe it will be cheaper?

Dear Stefanie and Theresa,

Hi

I know this will sound unbelievable, but I got into the program!!!! I'm still trying to process this Miracle, but now i'm so overwhelmed. We just had the orientation and i'm kind of lost. Please help me, I know we need to do the assignment, which are on the paper we got. I can't find The critical thinking assessment exam where do I find it? can please help me?

Thanks

Ifat

Hello Ifat-

Well, first off, Congrats!!!! What happened? Did you just get an e-mail saying that they reconsidered and now you are in?

Yes, orientation was very stressful and overwhelming, but you should feel better in a few days. :-)

I am pretty sure that we took the critical thinking assessment during orientation. If we didn't score 90%, we had to take the "Quest for Academic Success." After that, we have to complete the "Self Assessment Inventory"... is this what you are referring to? This can be found under the My eLearning tab, and then practice assessments.

Let me know if you have more questions... and good luck!!

Yes, bought it online TEAS 5.

If you guys don't mind sharing your gpa's and teas score, Is sierra college has lottery system as well? If so how would you know if you are in included into the lottery or not?
