Does Sick Kids hire Black nurses?
I applied to a clinical externship position, I am a nursing student, and there was this White nursing student that applied to the same position. We compared resumes and I have to say I had a lot of work and volunteer experience in comparison to hers. She ended up getting a call to come in for an interview and got the job. I didn't even get a call for an interview at all. I feel like the person's name on a resume is a make it or break it for getting hired. My name obviously being hard to pronounce unless I say it.
What are your thoughts? I am not trying to start any race war issues, but I can't possibly be the only person that feels this way sometimes.

Not to say black nurses, there's only pretty blonde nurses. A few Asians here and there.. Almost no black lol sorry I'm a minority too, so I feel you! hug hug, this world is not fair... and we can't really change what people think of us. So just try our best :))
May I know which unit accepted your friend?

I have worked at SickKids for 3 years in 4 different departments / units (not as a nurse though as I am still a student). I worked with many nurses, researchers, and doctors. I can confirm that SIckKids does not discriminate. There were nurses of many different ethnicities... I worked with many of them. One of the nurses I worked closest with was of indian ethnicity. Although black (or African American) is generally not a common ethnicity in Toronto, there are black nurses at SickKids. The staff at this hospital is extremely diverse.
Hey sorry late reply. She was hired in 7BCD. I am not even bothered by this I was hired as an extern with Trillium Health and I am completely enjoying my time here.
