Hiii, I saw there wasn't a page for this yet. SO I decided to start one. Anyone submit their app yet? I just got accepted to SHSU and applied to the Woodlands campus. :)
In all honesty I believe that they accept who they want, and this will be the first and last time that I apply to their program!
This is the case with a lot of programs. A few have a clear cut point based system, but they are the minority. I've had 8 denials over the last 2 years and applied to 9 programs for Spring 2018, so maybe I'll eventually find somewhere that will take me.
I almost feel like most people who get accepted do deserve it, but also its just a luck of the draw. I don't think they take the time to look at it enough, bc they only took about 15 days to review 260 applications and send out acceptance letters to some? Doesn't seem like enough time to me.

I agree. Other schools are making applicants wait at least a month or more between deadlines. There's no way to get through all those applications in this small of a time frame.

Yes, but also understand a lot of applicants submit their applications well in advance. Another thing to consider is the number of applicants. I believe the email said 250 or so, that's less than the ADN programs around here. Several of the BSN programs have over 1,000 apply, so of course they will need much longer to work through the applications(most only have a couple employees dedicated to this).
I'm very sorry about the rejection letters. I sincerely hate that you are hurting or you have to reconfigure plans. It's disappointing. Logically thinking though, if there were 260 applications and they only selected approximately 60 (thirty per campus) you have to rank in the top 25%. Since there is no essay and no interview, it really boils down to merely numbers. The numbers you control. If you receive a 4.0 and your overall TEAS score is exemplary in the top 1% and you complete all immunizations with titers by the application date you limit the chance for denial. I do know applicants that fit those qualifications that were accepted. I'm sure there is an automatic ranking system that shows science GPA and overall GPA the minute we applied. They download our TEAS scores which probably automatically ranks us too. The only thing I imagine they have to review that takes any time are the immunizations. The only thing we can control is our personal performance and then it's not left up to someone else for a decision or chance. Everyone works hard and has learned a ton of info in a short time. That's something to be proud about. Please don't feel that they pick who they want randomly. My point is- don't give them the power to decide. You get to choose when you've left nothing undone. Retake courses if needed, retake the TEAS whatever you need to do to be the most complete candidate.
