The shower ledge is about 3 inches high. How do you get the shower chair over the ledge and into the shower? How do you get it back out again?

3 INCHES??
Wow, ours is 1/2 inch and I thought it was bad enough. I always feel as if the chair is going to tip.
Can you leave the shower chair IN the shower area but pull it as close to the ledge as possible, then position the resident's wheelchair perpendicular to the ledge and transfer them to the shower chair?
There really is NO feasible and safe way to get a shower chair OVER a 3 inch bump.
Well they are not going to modify the shower so I have to develop a technique that works for me. In order to pull out I stood in front of chair and grabbed the front edge of the shower chair seat with an underhand grip. Then I pulled the chair up and over the ledge. It was hard but doable.
How do you get over the small ledge?
I just VERY carefully do what you described above -- slightly lift the front wheels over, then the back wheels.
Encourage your residents to hold on TIGHT. I would be terrified of the chair tipping over throwing the resident on the floor. Not to mention the intense strain you are putting on your back by lifting the shower chair so high.

Can they add a 1 foot long ramp that would allow the chair to roll over it?
What do the other CNA's do? LMAO!
They talk the residents out of showers of course.

LMAO! I Realize the truth of the statement you posted was not funny. However it lead me to burst out laughing the way you put the reply. Isn't it amazing what some people will do! Kudos to you for trying to figure it out so these poor people can take a shower!!! I would also state the need for a ramp!
