Should I work for a year first or take additional chemistry

Published

I just graduated by BSN program and got hired into the ICU. My nursing GPA is 3.0 and cumulative is 3.1. I think if I apply to enough schools I'll get in. Should I just take the ICU job and finish up the remaining classes and quite my job after 1-2 years working in the ICU. I am not the type who can work and go to school at the same time. Or should I not work and just continue with school and finished chemistry II, orgo, biochem, bio 2, physics I & II. My jobs makes me work crappy shifts so I can't work and take chem at the same time. I need advice.

I'm still in nursing school, so take this with a grain of salt, but won't you forget your nursing skills if you take another year or so to complete other schooling. I think if you have the job in the ICU already and you are looking into CRNA, start the ICU and take the classes at a later time (maybe summer) or when you can. Are all of those classes required or do you just want to take them to help you with school?

Same type of questions as previous posts. If you are not required to take something don't waste your money. I think that Organic and Biochem are courses that I would consider prior to applying to school. Your first priority must be to get your experience don't hold off on that unless you have a semesters worth of classes to take and I still would probably say experience first. Look at the online options to pickup those other courses, it will give you a little more flexibility.

I'm not expert or nothing, but I think taking the ICU job would make much much more sense. I would take physics last if you really want to... But getting the work experience is more important. Plus those classes you mentioned, i don't think they're required, so why not just get the experience first. Like you said, if you apply enough school, you'll get in; so go for the experience IMO

Man, by the time you finish taking Chem I and II, Organic, Biochem, Bio 2, and Physics I and II....YOU CAN APPLY TO MED SCHOOL! Just make "A's"! Or, if you make so-so grades, there is always Osteopathic Medicine. The average Cum GPA for their schools are usually a 3.3!
