Should I take her to Urgent Care?

Published

OK gang, my daughter comes to me a little bit ago and tells me she thinks she has pinworms (yep, she's had 'em before).

Told her to tell me why she thinks that..and without going into detail, she's definitely got them.

So, it being Saturday my only option is to take her to Urgent Care now, or wait til Monday and *hope* we can get an appt at the doctors.

Are there any "home remedies" for this? Should I just go ahead and take her? She is very uncomfortable, to say the least.

You may want to consider calling the pediatrician on call for your group and get him/her to call a script in to the pharmacy based on the compelling fact that this is an easily recognized recurrence of her previously diagnosed pinworm. I'd try that before hazarding urgent care.

Just my 2 cents.

Are the worms actually visable? or just itching? How long ago was she tx'd last time?

Does your pediatrician have an after-hours phone triage service? They may be able to call in a Rx.

Good thought, bluesky...calling now.

Thank you.

ewwwwwwww.... remember having that when I was little, too ! Yukkers ! Poor lil' girl. :o Hope she gets relief SOON !!! :kiss

Thanks again bluesky and KeniRN.

Called the med society and they gave me the number of the on-call, and WOW, he actually answered the phone! LOL

He is calling in scripts for the whole family (profilactic, I guess).

I am glad your brains are working becuase mine obviously is not today (I have been down with strep throat, al little out of it).

Glad we don't have to go to Urgent Care...it's cold out and I feel lousy...but I would have if I needed to ;) .

Thanks, jnette. She should be getting some relief here soon.

It is gross, especially when it's MY kid, lol.

I tell her to wash her hands, fruit before she eats it, etc. Don't know how she manages it...

I don't know how your health insurance works, but with mine, both the Urgent Care have to be run through the MD before the money is spent. Otherwise, insurance won't pay for the visit! Glad you called the MD on call! Good luck!
