Should I go Nutritionist first then nurising?

I know it is a decision I gotta make, but I saw that if I take Nutritrion , it will take less years to finish the nursing program, is this true or it will take another 4 years since this nutrition program takes 4 years? I'm very into nutrition. My major is actually Holistic nurse practitioner or something. Did anyone take Registered dietitian and how was it? It takes 4 years to finish this program over here.

It would not take you another 4 years to get a BSN or RN,but it would most likely take 2 more years. I have a degree in nutrition and education and I am now seeking a BSN. I have never practiced as a dietitian, but they are TOTALLY different. If you want to be a nurse go that route, if you want to be a dietitian go that route. You will need 900 clinical hours to sit for the RD exam and those clinical hours will not transfer over to the RN since it's dietary. Some of your classes would fulfill the prereqs for a nursing program, but not all of them. I would look into it.

They are two different programs. At most, some of your pre-requisites will be the same for the two programs. RD to RN is not like LPN/LVN to RN; they are totally separate, and doing RD first will not make becoming an RN any faster. Pick which one you're more excited about and go for it!

If you know you want to go into nursing, also having a nutrition degree will not benefit you in nursing. Go ahead and get into a nursing program, without investing the extra time and money into a degree that isn't going to get you where you want to be.

OK, thanks all! If I don't get accepted at a nursing program because it is hard to get into then I will just go for Nutrition.

I'm very into nutrition though, but I plan to be a certified coach in health and wellness and educate people. I really don't have to become a RD. We'll see what happens. :)
