Hello! I work for a small rural home health company. I have been on call every other week for 3 months due to shortage of nurses at our agency. Our call lasts from Friday at 4:30 untill 8:00 the following Friday. In other words, I have been on call for two weeks a month for 3 months. We've had 3 nurses quit within a span of 3 months and only 1 new RN has been hired and we are "taking our time" with her as to not "overwhelm" her. She has been there for over a month and still has not been taught how to fill out Oasis paperwork because the supervisor feels that she's not ready! (I was admitting patients 2 weeks after I started) I am currently managing around 27-28 patients and drive about 100-125 miles a day. Is this ridiculous or do I just need to suck it up. The other nurses are tired of this also. Oh and we are continuing to admit patients on a daily basis. HELP!
