I used to wear running shoes , expensive one, but for extensive standing and time on feet , I now west danskos. Some ppl hate them but I find that they support my lower back. I had them fitted to me at the walking company store. They last me about a year - year and half and my feet or back never hurt. I too work those hours.

Warning- they do take a couple weeks

I'm a nephrology APN so I round on the pts and never sit as I do chairside charting with a rolling computer - ugh.

I swear by my sketchers!

Buy the nike rosherun!

I have had excellent luck with the "Ecco Mens Rugged Track GTX Tie". I bought a pair of these, and they lasted me five years of regular use! They aren't cheap, but they are indestructible and reasonably comfortable for long hours on your feet.

I switch between Danskos and Alegrias, depending how my feet feel in the morning. Some I've had 5-10+ years, which you can if you take care of them. Alegrias can switch insoles when worn out.

Brooks running shoes matched based on your arch. Helped me stop having plantar fasciitis. But there is honestly only so much you can do to combat pounding unforgiving cement floors for 14-16 hours/day. I also recommend compression socks. it will help prevent, but not eliminate varicose veins.

I swear by my 3 pairs of Danskos and my compression knee socks .

I had always worn New Balance or Sketchers in the past, but I changed jobs to a position where I was on my feet 14 hrs a day, and my feet were killing me all day. I could not find any shoes that were comfortable any more, and to add insult to injury, I caught a shoelace around the brake of a dialysis chair wheel and fell on my rear during turnover one day!

I bought my first pair of Danskos after that, and worked a 14 hr shift the first day I wore them with NO foot pain.

Haven’t worn any other shoes to work since then.
