What shoes do you guys wear at work??
I'm a student so we were required to get solid white shoes (no crocs, no sandals, etc). Got some leather "shoes for crews" for about $40 and have been very happy with them. I have hip problems too, but after a 6 hour clinical session my legs are sore from standing, but my feet & hips are fine. the soles are -very- non-slip too, which helps.
I have a high arch. For me, Crocs resulted in pain before my shift was even over. Athletic shoes do the same. I've worn Dansko clogs since about a year into the profession. If you're lucky, you can even find a shoe store that gives a discount for your profession/where you work (as I do). They're not the most masculine thing around, but I won't wear anything else if I'm going to be on my feet for a while. I've even gotten friends working as waiters, etc wearing them too. I even noticed an asst manager at Kroger wearing them last evening. :chuckle
Aetrex. really good shoe. I am 220# and need the arch support. I usually change to Keen sandals by the end of the day. Lets my feet air out. A bit costly, but easily worth it.

I'm 6'4" 225lbs and even with Nike Shox, my feet and back are killing me by the end of a 12-hour clinical shift.I need to find something better, but don't know what to buy.
I can only speak from personal experience, but whenever I would lose a few pounds, my back and knees felt a lot better. Same goes for when I focus on posture and leg/lower back exercises....
Penn State Croc's...
They're the best investment I've ever made; after years of wearing expensive running shoes or training shoes by either Nike, reebox, or New balance and still going home with my dawgs hurting, my back aching... I tried the $35.00 croc's and now my dawgs are just fine, my back never hurts.

in nsg school i broke down and invested in custom orthotics. pricey, but my 40+ year old hips, knees and back are happy! I wear 'em in newbalance or nike walking zips, extra wide. good to go!
