Shoes for Plantar Fasciitis

I use Anywears clogs, but over the last few months I've developed what I think is plantar fasciitis (intense heel pain when I get out of bed or after sitting for a few minutes, etc.). Are there any good shoes, supports, or ideas you guys have? Thanks!

I havent had any problems since i started wearing nike shox, I have plantar faciitis and really high arches. I had intense pain in my toes and balls of feet, i dont have any problems until my shoes start wearing out, plus i use an insole from champions shoe store its pink and costs about 2o bucks.

What I think would work best for me (pf w/ very low arches) is a running shoe. Pf sufferers usually benefit from having a shoe that's elevated at the heel and slopes downhill to the toe. Unfortunately, I wear a sz 5.5 womens and hospital requires a solid non-perf'd non-mesh leather or vinyl shoe, in all-white. And a solid white leather running shoe just isn't made anymore. Trainers are the closest I could get. Reebock Evolution is one that I wear, but I painted over the color stripes. My other pair of work shoes is Easy Spirit Anti-Gravity oxford like the Girl Power shoe but it might not be that exact model. Has a high heel, is very cushy, very stable, and is cheap at $40 or so.

On days when my pf feels a little weak or twangy, I tape it with athletic tape for support. I tore my pf in an accident in fall of 2008, and it probably took at least 18 months to get strength back. I rather think that tearing is nature's way of adding an expansion joint. I have zero pf pain now in the foot that tore. But the "good" foot acts up on some days.

Oh, and I have some of those plastic heel cups from the podiatrist. I still use those too, sometimes. My feet do better if switch the shoe style every 3 days or so.

look at birchenstocks, they make a good insert for your shoe. I had the problem when I run but it was fix with inserts.

I have PF with extremely high arches...so far the only shoe I have been able to wear consistently with very little pain (except for the inevitable after 3 hard nights) is Sketchers Shape Ups. They keep my heels off the floor and allow your foot to rock when you walk so as to keep pressure off the balls of your feet and heels. Also, it doesn't hurt the calfs and bottom either ;)

I recommend Orthaheel shoes. I have the athletic style shoes and they are great. They do run about a half size large. They run about $100, but well worth the price. You can google them to find places to get them. Also, you need to do calf stretching exercises on a regular basis. I have terrible feet, but no longer do I have Plantar Fasciitis!

Hi,

My husband purchased the Anywear LX unisex clog it was the best shoe I have ever worn. I picked watermellons in the summer, wore these shoes everywhere with just about everything they felt so good I didn't care what people thought because my feet felt good. One night I even crawled onto the bed with them on. Now be sure to get the proper size for you feet so you will have room in them.

I wear a size 11 and 5ft 10" tall and weigh 275lbs these shoes have great cushion. I had my pair for about 3 yrs before they finally ripped on the top from me wearing them so much. I finally found prices I can afford so I can get more than one pair otherwise, I would be wearing them right now. The other brand Anywears are to soft and will cause plantar Fsciitis I know I bought some pairs hoping that I could get some variety in style boy was I wrong.

I had PF years ago from running and I got these awesome insoles called SuperFeet for like $30 - might want to try those before buying new shoes.

They also make these socks that kind of velcro your foot in a flexed position and you're supposed to sleep in them... I hear they work, but are hard to wear for the entire night depending on how deep you sleep.
