Hi all,

Decided to start this thread to post updates about the SHARP New Graduate Nurse Residency Program for the August 2012 cohort.

Good luck!

Best,

Zola

Thanks :)

Has anyone else heard from Chula Vista ICU?

Are you talking about the Chula Vista MICU? Did they say when they would stop making calls, or how many people they were planning on interviewing?

No, she didn't say how many. She did say that they have a lot of deadlines and that their schedule is really busy. I don't even have an exact time scheduled b/c they are so busy. Do you know the manager or the CNS of the dept? If you do then I would recommend sending an email and say that you applied and would love to interview.

Thanks for the info! I preceptored there and spoke with her then. I've called a few times and they said they don't have updates yet.. I'm still hoping! Good luck with ur interview!

Did you go to SDSU? When did you graduate?

I emailed the manager twice. I did my leadership rotation at Chula Vista and really liked all of the managers, CNS's, and staff...that's why I only applied for that location.

No, we went to a little school in Chula Vista. We really loved everyone there too! Was it ------- you emailed? Did you ever hear back?

No, I did not go to SDSU. I did an Entry Level Master Program. I'm in the MSN portion now. I did my preceptorship there (loved it) and one of my other rotations at another floor at sharp. I spoke to them about 3 times about there hiring process! I only want the MICU, so hope they call!

Do both of you already have your RN license? I have heard that they prefer candidates to already be licensed.

Also, I emailed the manager of the MICU and CC'd the director of critical care b/c I was able to spend time with both of them. I never heard a response back and was thinking that I just didn't get an interview...then one of my personal references (who works in the unit) said that the manager had asked about me so I decided to be bold and dropped off my portfolio. Don't worry...the unit is extremely busy right now so I think they will be calling in the next couple weeks!!

We do now. We didn't when we applied. I emailed one of the managers that I met while I was on the unit too. I texted my preceptor and asked if she's heard anything, but I'm pretty sure she would have told me if she had. Ugh. Well, good luck! Let us know how it goes!! How exciting!!

Thanks so much boobear for all your information!:yelclap:

Memorial is starting to contact people. Just heard through the grapevine. Good luck to any of you who applied for their program. :)

Had my interview at CV today for their ICU. It went pretty well...I have a head cold so I am a little out of it and I know I talked too much!! The unit manager and nurse educator are the ones who interviewed me and both were incredibly nice. Definitely geared towards situation (how did you handle...) and personality type questions. Also, it seems that ICU's are all asking what you do to relieve stress and what kind of support system do you have? I should know the results of my interview in just under a week...so fingers are crossed!!
