its been crickets from Grossmont. not sure if its good or bad LOL
@MatrickCongrats. It's a great opportunity. Are you an out of state applicant that has not graduated yet by any chance?
Thank you both! I'm a San Diego resident, I officially graduate April 18th, hoping to sit for NCLEX as soon as possible, and no hospital experience outside of clinicals. Good luck to you!!
Hi all! Super bummed, I went through the interview in the ED at Sharp Memorial and they asked for my references, I was hopeful, but in the end I was not chosen. I was put on an "alternative list" in position 2. Has anyone heard of this before, and is there any chance it could lead to employment?
Congrats to those who did get hired and good luck to those who are waiting to hear back.
I’m sorry to hear that. Unfortunately that’s the sad truth about most of the ED programs. You’ll have to go against several internal candidates. In case of Memorial ED, there was possibly 4-5 internal candidates that were ER tech already within memorial ED that had interview scheduled, plus there is only I believe 3-4 new grad position available to fill in. I wouldn’t lose hope tho, stay strong. Get your license as soon as possible, some of the internal candidates still have to graduate and apply for the license... there can be delayed in application approval by the BRN. Mine it took 3 months to get approved, and additional month to get a spot to schedule the exam, you never know.
best of luck to you and everyone.

That makes since, which is why I am not taking it personally and just moving forward. Everyone was very kind through the process tbh. They just said that if for any reason, there is a change in need they would reach out until up to 3 weeks before the program start, August 1. So I am guessing if the offered candidates are unable, or the need increases that would be the possible scenarios for which they would reach out.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. I agree that ED is very competitive and I totally understand why internal candidates should be heavy considered in this scenario. I am just going to leave it to the universe to guide me to where I am supposed to be. It was a great interview process and experience even if I was not chosen.

Are they doing the simulation interview this round? A colleague of mine said they haven't been doing them because of COVID. Do other hospitals do this too or just Chula? I have my interview soon, I'll keep you updated if I get called for a 2nd interview.
Btw, how did your interview go? Which unit did you pick!

I'm scheduled for a 2nd simulation interview at Sharp Chula Vista. Not sure about other Sharp facilities, if they do them at this moment !. I picked Med-Surg/Tele/PCU units, still not sure what they will offer me as my permanent floor, depends on how the 2nd interview goes. The first interview was a panel interview, I was so anxious, never had been to a panel/nursing interview before. However, the managers are so nice and understandable, you will feel less pressure. My recommendation is just to maintain eye contact with all the managers, speak confidently about your own experience dealing with various patient care/clinical/personal situations.
Best of luck to you

@maetrick Congratulations on the offer, wish you the best of success on your nursing journey. may I ask if you were an internal or external candidate?
