I am interested in hearing your stories about one of your patients. Whether it me the most memorable, difficult, grossest, funniest etc. I would love to hear it. Thanks.:)

I would have to say my favorite story is about a little African American Lady. Everyone on the floor did not want to take care of her, (she & family were hard to please). First time I recieved her on my assignment i spent time to find out what she wanted and getting it for her. She was so happy that she caused me no trouble the rest of the shift and was even happy if they told her I'd be in that night. I never knew what an impression I made on her until she was ready to go home. She was kind enought to share her ancestor's stories with me. These were stories that you would pass from generation to generation and never outside the family or race. I was very honored to have been accepted into her heart.
Then there was the sweet LOL who motioned me to come close to tell me a secret... and gave me a black eye! Guess you can't have everything.

I had the 5 filled patient rooms with the Dreaded One Empty Room of Doom.
Then I got the report sheet of the Little Old 96-year Old Lady with the GI Bleed.
It turned out that she was the most A & O x 4 (or 5 or 6s, However much time you had to Orient your patient) lived-by-her-lonesome-patient that ever there was. It just happened to be that when you helped her ambulate to the bathroom she would sneeze or cough and her Rectal Tone wasn't All That. And a little bit o GI bleed would shoot from her be-hind, not being trapped by her ineffiecient hospital gown.
I just hope that If and When I reach the ripe old age of 96 years old my only complaint is a little bit o GI bleed shooting from my nether regions on my way to the bathroom.

Working LTC years ago, I remember a little elderly gal, confined to her wheel chair but was always finding ways to get out. She was missing from her chair in her room one day, a few minutes of looking and a CNA came running into the hall yelling I need help..... Well we ran into the room and asked her what the fuss was about. She had found our gal, wedged of all places under her bed!!! She got under there and got stuck. We got her out checked her over and she was fine. She did however earn the nic name of "hickory nut" because she was a tough as one! She went on about her day un phased, while we all marveled at how she accomplished such a feat!
