SFSU/Sequoia program 2015

Nursing Students General Students

Hi. I was looking around on here for any current threads about the current admission cycle for the BSN program to SFSU/Sequoia. I didn't see anything recent so figured I'd start a topic.

I have an interview coming up for fall admission and wanted to see in anyone had some advice who had gone through this interview process? I'm pretty nervous...

Also, any other information about the program would be awesome.

Thanks,

Kym

Hi and congratulations to everyone! I dropped off my acceptance at Canada yesterday and I got an email this morning confirming they received it. I called SFSU admissions today and they told me that we will have two weeks to accept from the time we're notified, no matter the date. So, we don't need to worry about the May 1st deadline. I'm also going to try to call financial aid later today to ask when that is determined. Does anybody know if we need to be accepted first in order to find out if we're awarded any financial aid? Also, does anybody have any idea what our class schedule might be like? It seems like a long time to wait until the end of June to get more information and I'm trying to figure out what kind of part-time job I can find. Has anybody else mentioned setting up a facebook group for our cohort? I think that would be helpful. Maybe I'll keep posting on here so I can get the level to be able to PM you guys and we can exchange emails. Jen

Hi All,

I ended up hand-delivering my form as well to make sure it was received. I was informed that if it was hand-delivered, they may not send a confirmation email (so not to worry if you hand-delivered it and did not get a response).

Also, I was able to ask a few questions. There will be an orientation at the end of July sometime, and an orientation at Sequoia Hospital sometime in August (no dates yet, but we will get notification of them). Also, we start class on August 25th.

I called the graduate office today to find out when I will be hearing from them, he confirmed what Jen (above) said about us having 2 weeks to accept from the time we are notified.

I think we will have to wait a little longer to find out about our scheduled as well.

I hope some of this information helps! I don't have a facebook anymore, but if someone ends up creating a group, I may create one just for our cohort.

Thanks for all of the updates kind1. I reached out via message to an admin of the cohort 11 group on FB in hopes to get some info on our schedule or anything else. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

Hi everyone. I got a response from Megan in cohort 11. Here it is:

"I am the President of the NSA cohort Xl so we will be connecting a lot over the next year. I understand it feels like an eternity until June (I remember waiting) but it truly will come before you know it. In the mean time I can tell you to enjoy your summer as much as possible. Catherine is still sorting through letters of acceptance so soon she will get me a finalized list of cohort Xll. Once she does that I will send out a short email to all of you and adding all of you to a closed Facebook group. Again congratulations, welcome to our program!"

Might be a little late to the thread, but I also received my acceptance e-mail last week and have since submitted my response form to Catherine the day after. Good to see a thread started for the Fall 2015 cohort!

I finally got my email today notifying me of acceptance to SFSU through the grad school (2nd bac degree student here). It's nice to know I'm fully "in" as I was having paranoid thoughts about having forgotten something crucial with my school application!

Congrats to all of you, and I look forward to the FB book getting started and getting to know everyone!

Hi Space Monster. I was able to accept also. I sent you a PM (excuse my typos in the PM, was using phone to write).

Hi All,

My status at SF Gateway says I can accept or decline but says nothing about Nursing as my major and I haven't gotten any email about SFSU acceptance. I want to call but don't want them to start hating that annoying lady that calls all the time, lol. Did anybody hear anything yet about financial aid?

Hi 3doodle, just an FYI for when you accept: When I accepted my admission, it took me to a page with a confirmation message, but I didn't get an email or anything. I emailed the grad office to make sure all was ok with my acceptance and to see if there were any fees associated with accepting, and they said I was all set and there are no fees. Today I also got an email with info about my SFSU email address/account.

I would think you can go ahead and accept! Also the grad office was quick to get back to me via email (and they were super nice!), so if you can't get hold of them by phone you could try that. Don't worry about being the annoying one -- I'm sure they are getting lots of questions right now. :)

Thanks so much Space Monster. I tried to call but it was right at closing time so nobody answered. I'll try again Monday. I'm just scared because the financial aid section says "no aid available" and I'm hoping that's just temporary and they just haven't decided or posted yet.

Hello 3doodle,

My gateway also allowed me to accept/decline last week and I had not gotten an email informing me either. I ended up accepting right away and called the grad office. They said they had sent me an email informing me that I could accept or decline, but I had never got it! I confirmed with them that they had received my acceptance and a few days later I got an email confirming my acceptance with info regarding my sfsu email account. Remember you only have 2 weeks to accept from the date they sent it, so accept ASAP! :)

Thanks for the advice everyone. I accepted! Looks like no grants for me, only loans. :( Still very excited to be attending the program.
