I went to their website today and found that the nursing application has now been posted. Due date is January 15, 2010. Now it's time to bug my professors for another round of forms and letters. I have one letter, but need the form to get filled out. It's so embarrassing to go back to the same people. I feel like I owe them the world. What's the most number of requests anyone has asked one person?
Anyway back to the application itself. On it you have to choose a Graduate Program Emphasis. If my goal is to become a Diabetes Educator, should I choose Adult Acute CNS or Maternal/Child CNS, or should I choose Public Health? Does anyone know if we can change specialties mid-stream?
Thanks.
I got into the GMSN program for Maternal/child care CNS. Im reaaaaally happy and excited. I hope this isn't a mistake email sent to random people.Does anyone else's letter start like
"The School of Nursing Admission Committee is pleased to inform you that we are recommending that the Graduate Division offer you formal admission to the Generic MSN program in the School of Nursing..."
Hey CecileSF!
I just got to checking my email, and I got in for Maternal/Child CNS for the Fall! YAY!!!
Btw, my letter starts like that also.
:ancong!: to those who got in. And Good Luck to those who are waiting.
I have heard of them splitting each of the majors into two classes - one starting in fall and the other in spring. The word on the street is that the more competitive applicants start in the fall. I am not sure I believe that, but it is what others have told me. Although I can't think of any rhyme or reason why.
As far as I know, for SFSU you apply 1 time per year. There isn't a separate 2nd application for the spring - they divy out candidates from one application pool per year to either fall or spring. I believe this started last year, and has something to do with the budgets.
Sugar, I think they would send out notifications by the individual. At least I hope so. Just for reasons of privacy, and everyone is due thier own response. But to be certain, maybe someone can address that.
At this point I am going over and over my personal statement, and imagining what my letters of rec were, and my cirriculum vitae - I am going a little batty replaying everything and thinking what I could have done differently. I don't know my status, but this is agonizing.
I hear ya. Regariding sending email, I only asked because I know of one school in particular where recipients have received interview and acceptance information in groups, exposing email addresses to everyone. You would think they would have at least used the BCC.
Thanks again for keeping my head on straight as we all go through this frustrating and exciting process together.
vanhalenfan,
I got an email yesterday around 5PM that I got accepted to the maternal/child CNS program for fall, my status online still says my application is in department review. I heard from last years post on GMSN that they split up the cohorts based on your concentration and budget cuts. Also to answer the question about the privacy, they do email you individually. Best of luck to you!!
