SFSU ABSN Summer 2020

Published

Hey all,

I just wanted to start a thread for those who are applying to San Francisco State University's ABSN program at the San Marcos campus. This is for the summer 2020 start date.

Good luck to everyone applying! Let's stay in touch.

Hi there! I reached out to the nursing program about the SFSU ABSN admission decisions and they are not holding any interviews. Decisions will be emailed by April 3rd.

Good luck everyone!

@rt94588 thanks for posting - just got the email this morning too - good luck!!

It seems like we are all getting different answers. I emailed the office on March 3rd, and they told me admission decisions will be released mid-April. Someone else said the results come out in May. Which response do you think we should trust more?

I emailed SFSU Nursing program last Friday and received the same response as rt94588. No interviews this time and should hear back by April 3rd regarding appllication decisions.

Patiently waiting in anticipation ?

Here's hoping that they are still going to send out decisions on April 3rd... Has anyone heard anything new?

They just emailed us all about not knowing when they will be admitting a Summer cohort because all of their clinical sites are cancelled.

As soon I posted I got the e-mail too. Happy that they are keeping us updated.

Hi Guys,

I contacted School of Nursing regarding their email about admission delay. This is what I got:

Both, no admissions decisions will be sent and it is uncertain if and when the next BSN A program will be. We will update you as new information becomes available.

I think it is completely strange that they are not even sending out admission decisions. Even if the start date needs to be TBD/TBA, they can still tell applicants if they got accepted or rejected.

For those of us weighing SFSU against other options, knowing whether we got in can help us make better informed decisions about paying non-refundable deposits (and tuitions!) to other schools.

Well, I hope to God that everyone here has something to fall back on.

Also, the fact that the clinical sites got cancelled doesn't mean the entire program needs to be cancelled or kept in limbo, which is what SFSU is currently doing. The curriculum is not 100% clinical classes anyway. There are also classes that are classroom-based, so they can be converted to online instruction like what Samuel Merritt is doing. It boggles my mind why SFSU refuses to just focus on those courses first, and wait until the outbreak ends to handle clinicals.

I agree with you. It seems like they don't know how to handle this situation very well. I also know couple of other universities in other states and they are considering online options for the Summer session. SF state is my first pick just because I live in the bay, but according to the personal response I got from School of Nursing (listed in my last message), they are uncertain of even having this program to begin with.
