Hello all! I am new to this forum and had a lot of questions about the application process for nursing school, specifically SF state's program.
I'm planning on applying to their Spring 2017 program, but have heard mixed reviews about it. Is there anyone currently in their nursing program that can shed any light on it? I've heard that it's very difficult to get classes, making it almost impossible to finish the program in the advertised 2 years (takes more like 3 years). I've also heard that due to the high demand of classes and lack of availability, students end up transferring out.
My current GPA is 3.57 and I scored a 81.3% on the TEAS. I also work as a Medical Assistant for 4 years now, ranging in different types of specialties/clinics. My grades aren't as competitive as what I would like it to be, but I'm hoping that my work experience makes up for it. Should I retake my TEAS test to try and get a higher score?
If you're applying to the program, put your stats below!
Thank you all for your input!
hey @sysl do u have any other experience like work or volunteering? Bilingual?I have my interview tomorrow in the morning as well! Are you going to bring any resumes or anything since they said instructions will be given at arrival?
I have about the same stats as yout and am hoping that they're letting in ppl with not so perfect scores in this round to test out what it would be like I checked their NCLEX pass rates and it's such a weird trend
I probably won't bring any resumes. I figure that since this is for school and not a job, it wouldn't be necessary. Im pretty sure that they would have told us what to bring because this process is primarily brand new to most of us. We know what to expect in a job interview but how are we to know for a school interview. But this is only my opinion. Good luck everyone.
