Hello all! I am new to this forum and had a lot of questions about the application process for nursing school, specifically SF state's program.
I'm planning on applying to their Spring 2017 program, but have heard mixed reviews about it. Is there anyone currently in their nursing program that can shed any light on it? I've heard that it's very difficult to get classes, making it almost impossible to finish the program in the advertised 2 years (takes more like 3 years). I've also heard that due to the high demand of classes and lack of availability, students end up transferring out.
My current GPA is 3.57 and I scored a 81.3% on the TEAS. I also work as a Medical Assistant for 4 years now, ranging in different types of specialties/clinics. My grades aren't as competitive as what I would like it to be, but I'm hoping that my work experience makes up for it. Should I retake my TEAS test to try and get a higher score?
If you're applying to the program, put your stats below!
Thank you all for your input!

Hi. I lived in San Francisco for 7 years and had many friends at SFSU and yes they did all complain that there were severe budget issues at that school. In nursing and in all other majors. No classes available for amount of students. No chalk for teachers. On the other hand, it's San Francisco so amazing city to live in and work in. I ended up taking out massive loans and attending the university of San Francisco (that's the private one USF - not the state one! And not the UC one) and got my BSN there. It's an awesome program and a have no regrets but I have lots of debt lol

Hi,
I applied to SFSU for the Fall of 2016. I didn't get accepted or interviewed to the program, despite the fact that I had fairly decent stats. My prerequisite GPA was a 3.69, and my cumulative gpa was a 3.76. However, my TEAS score was low at a 79.3. I've also had experience at the hospital as a nursing student intern at Stanford Health Care.
SFSU also only admitted 20 students this fall with the 800 people that applied. Don't waste your time applying!

Hello!
I'm also applying for the Spring 2017 cycle.
Does anyone know if they accept about the same number of people for both spring and fall?
20 people is really small

I just got an invitation to interview today. It's on October 31st and it will be 45 minutes long. Instructions on the interview process will be given upon arrival at the interview. I'm pretty nervous! I don't know what questions they're going to ask and I'm kind of bad at interviews because I get really nervous and tense up.
Good luck you guys!

Hey guys,
First time applying to SFSU's BSN program. I also received an email invitation for an interview. I'm excited, nervous, but more than happy to meet everyone.

Is your date on the 31st as well? If you don't mind, what are ur stats?
What do you think is the dress code for the interview? How are you guys preparing for it? I wonder why it's 45 minutes long. That's pretty long. And it's kind of nerve-wracking that the instructions will be given upon arrival at interview instead of beforehand.
