Moving family to Rapid City, SD

Hey guys, my family (wife and 4-month old daughter) are moving to Rapid City from California. Adjustment to the weather seems as it will be our biggest challenge. Any special tips for handling the long, cold winters? Other than weather, is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any feedback would be much appreciated!

    Sacramento State Spring 2017

Alright guys, I got around to making the FB page. So if you all type in CSUS Nursing Class of Fall 2018, it should pop up. Let me know if it doesn't. As for the Castlebranch presentation, I will be attending the one scheduled for Monday. Hope to see some of you there!

    Sacramento State Spring 2017

I haven't heard or seen anyone start up a FB page yet. If no one is willing, I would be more than happy to take the initiative to create one. Based on postings from previous cohorts, communication among us is critical to surviving the program as schedules can change with short notice.

Congrats everyone! I was accepted as well. I'm excited to meet you all. And thank you @Keen Observer for the patho book recommendation. I picked it up earlier this week and could have definitely used its simplistic explanations to better comprehend some concepts in physio.

Congrats everyone! I can hear your sighs of relief haha. I got the acceptance email as well, but will likely be giving up my spot. Good luck to all of you on your nursing school endeavors!

SF State Nursing Program, Spring 2017

It was actually a couple of different numbers, either 24 or 40 admissions, depending on a budgeting issue their nursing program is working to resolve. I would assume at this point they have definitive answer.

SF State Nursing Program, Spring 2017

Hey @FighterJets, thanks for your input. If you wouldn't mind me asking, what is your source for that number? I recently asked a member of SFSU Nursing faculty the same question and was told a different number.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it was my understanding that there is an integration of pharmacology throughout the program. Therefore, it's not a prerequisite nor a co-requisite.

If your schedule allows for it, I would at least start studying for the TEAS. Give yourself as much study time as possible. If you plan on applying to other programs down the road in the unfortunate circumstance your name does not get selected in this term's lottery, prioritizing your schedule around time dedicated to the TEAS is essential for achieving a good score.

Hey @SweetandSalty, I'll be applying to CSU Stan for next spring as well! It'll be my first time applying and I'm too sure what to expect so I will definitely attend their information session in September.

    Sac State 2016

Check your emails everyone. They released the update. Accounting for the trend of number of declined applicants during the fall term, it looks as if the cutoff score will be 78 or 79. So if everyone was OCD while checking their application ensuring there were no errors, the majority here should all be looking for some good news in a couple of weeks. "We received over 440 applications for 80 seats. Based on unverified student-reported data, the applicant ranked number 80 has 81 points—the applicant ranked 160 has 73 points. We anticipate the final cut-score will be lower when we have completed the evaluation and Intent-to-Enroll process, but we regret it may be higher than previous fall terms"

    Sac State 2016

It's no secret that the majority of the nursing schools in the region are gradually accepting more competitive applicants now more than ever. Based on the application pool history CSU Sac's SON provided, I would imagine the cutoff score will be higher than the previous fall. However, I was surprised to see it lowered for the recent spring cohort. It's possibly and hopefully a sign of the cutoff score stabilizing.
