I live in San Antonio, TX and I am interested in becoming a Sexual Abuse Nurse Examiner. Does anyone know the process or where I can go to become one? I plan on calling some schools come Monday, but until then.....

Thanks

no info for ya but i just wanted to tell you i admire you for wanting to go into that field. its something i could never do but something we really need, unfortuanately, in our society. good luck

Try contacting your local rape/battered womens shelter or the assistant DA's office. That is how my hospital got its info on S.A.N.E. training.

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

I live near Peoria, Illinois and work in the ER. We have started a SANE program here. The key was our nurse manager - whether the funding was there or not. Contact him/her and go from there. The trainer for us was from Phoenix, AZ I believe.

I'm not a SANE, but do rape kits on adults and peds when one isn't available.

C.A.R.E (Child Advocacy Review and Education ) Clinic

Hours: variable

Clinic Nurse Examiner: Patti Salazar, R.N., SANE

Clinic Nurse: Esther Pena, L.V.N.

Acting Medical Director: Robert Rosenberg, M.D., Ph.D.

For appointments call: (806) 743-2121

Thank you so much for letting me know. I will check that out at a local ER hospital. I did write the Texas Board of Nurses and they didn't have any information to give me.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the info. Since this is such a new field, any information helps.

Thanks for the compliment. It is a shame that we have to be concerned about this.
