Has anyone accepted a Local RN scholarship?

Has anyone applied for the Local RN scholarship this June?

I was wondering if anyone could share any information on how this process actually worked out for them.

Thanks

Congrats guys:balloons: If you dont mind me asking what are the terms of the scholarship? I wanna apply for october deadline but I wanna try to get the whole $10,000:) if possible. I know you guys are relieved of the $$$ less you have to worry about for school!

Three years work commitment with no restriction on facility, floor, department, or shift. Your pay will be the same as any other new grad, the only stipulation is that if you leave before three years are up you would have to pay a prorated amount back to sentara (its about $3000 for each year). Good luck!

Actually the commitment as stated in the sample contract sent to me is

1year for up to $5,000

2years for up to $10,000

The money is disbursed ditectly to the school, and you have to be employed by Sentara as a RN Full Time with in 6 months of graduation.

PM me if you want more, I will send you a copy of the blank contract.

Thanks guys for the info!!:monkeydance: I will be starting Sentara's RN program in August so Im trying to learn as much as I can about the scholarship before applying for the commitment. Thanks again!

A friend of mine received the scholarship from Sentara as well and if the cost of your tuition is less than your scholarship, your forfeit the difference and you are still obligated to work for them the amount of time you agreed to. Example: you sign a contract for 10K with 2 year work commitment. If tuition is 6,000 then the school is paid the 6k, you are reimbursed for your books ect but you are still committed to work for them for 2 years and you do not get the remainder of the 10k refunded to you. Several people in our class received the scholarship. FYI - the October deadline for the scholarship has been extended until November for those interested in applying.
