  1. well I can say the dept chair came from a university in my local area and we have had some of the same antics...so I do believe it, because I experienced it. No I am not bitter, nor interested in a media frenzy, because that will not solve the problem. Like you Heart I was one of the sucessful students that "handled business" and graduated on time, but being realistic you know that there are probably several issues that the department needs to fix, and some of them just boil down to professionalism and respecting the time that is takes students to meet faculty expectations. As far as those students who did not finish... I am a firm believer that if you teach students to standard them they can perform to standard. Any lesser performance equals sub-standard instruction. It is just difficult to believe that out of 31 people that 24 were screwups.
  2. King&his lady: Where did you find the link to help you understand them?

You could sell T-Shirts? In a local hospital, the ED nurses are alloweed to wear the hospital T-Shirt in lieu of a scrub top on certain days. They also sold pins that had the name of the hospit Here are some other Ideas ~The little retractable name badge clips. ~Partner with the Nutrition and Dietary health Depts to write a new healthy cookbook and bind it and sell it. Hope this helps:idea:
  11. I passed on prayer. I struggled the whole semester. I understood what the professor lectured on, but when I got to the test I had no clue what he was asking me for. I do not normally have problems with testing, but this one class threw me for a loop. Just review as much as you can and hope for the best.
  12. Thanks so much for the info. I am going to apply for this because I want to work at SNGH.

I have the option of moving anywhere. Are there any hospitals that are in the forefront as the "best" hospital for a nurse? I am interested in Emergency Nursing, but would like to consider the hospitals as a whole. I ask this just to get an idea of some of the more respected hospitals in relation to taking care of its nurses.
  14. I change beds and ask the charge nurse if there is anything that she needs help with. The techs have taught me how to do a few things like check oxygen. I also give out blankets and make up beds and get replacement beds. I was just wondering about things that volunteers may do in other hospitals that help the nurses, or things that nurses appreciate volunteers doing that may their days a little easier. I stay out when procedures are being done, unless I am specifically asked to help.
  15. I am volunteering in the ED at a busy hospital. Is there anything that I should specifically NOT do. I do not want to piss the Nurses off, but don't want to stand around looking like a moron either. Any advice would be helpful.
