Hi. I was watching the movie Selena tonight and it got me curious so I looked up some stuff about her online. According to the encyclopedia entry on her, she was raised as a Jehova's Witness. It also listed her cause of death as loss of blood secondary to GSW. I was just wondering if anyone (not looking for anyone who was remotely involved with her care, just general public knowledge facts) knew if the family refused to allow her blood and if that made a difference in the traumatic outcome of her case. It was just something I was reading about and such a tragic ending for someone so full of life.

I don't believe so. I've watched several documentarys on her and from all accounts she was given blood. The bullet severed a main artery. It's a sad story. She was about to become as big as Mariah Carey and Madonna. I'm wondering if the docs even knew she was a JW but I highly doubt that and I'm sure her family would have wanted everything possible done.

No, she was pretty much dead when she got hit, there was nothing that would have saved her.

what i read said she managed to get to the lobby after she was shot and tell them who shot her and even what room they were in.

"as the singer turned and left the room, saldívar shot her once in the back. selena fled to the manager's office in the lobby for help, with saldívar chasing her, calling her a "*****".[14] before collapsing to the floor, selena named saldívar as her assailant and gave the room number where she had been shot.[15] after an ambulance and the police arrived on the scene, selena was transported to a local hospital. she died there from loss of blood at 1:05 p.m., at the age of 23.[16]"

I was (and still am) a very big Selena fan. I also agree that her parents and husband would have wanted everything possible done. Such a tragic end to a wonderful life. I truely believe she would have been HUGE if she was alive--bigger than Jennifer Lopez ever has been (even though I love her too). Who btw played her in Selena. I still can't believe she is dead-I hope Saldivar is rotting in jail and has a horrible life because she deserves it for taking away the very promising life Selena had.

I do believe Selena was played by Jennifer Lopez and Edward James Olmos played her father. There is a statue in Corpus Christi constructed in her honor. Yes, certainly a tragic loss for all of us.:crying2:
