Hi everyone,
I am a pre-nursing student. I have one year of prerequisite classes out of the way and almost finished with my CNA class and am searching for advice when it comes to purchasing beginning gear for someone like me who will be in school another 4 years trying to get my BSN. I have seen stethoscopes online for as little as $5.00, but I'm scared to take a chance on a product that is so "cheap". Same thing for sphygs, shears, etc. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

I believe if you look on the nursing student forum, there is a whole discussion regarding this topic.

I believe in investing some money in a good stethescope which is what I did. I have had mine for 7 years and it was worth every single penny. I cannot hear with cheap ones. Be sure to mark yours very well and if a MD decides to "borrow" it, you should keep a close eye on them. Honestly, I have had several docs hand it back to me and say "wow.. that is a nice one..where did you buy it". I think that when they know you have invested the money ($300), they are more apt to give it back- at least that has been my experience.
good luck

Make sure you HAVE to buy the item before you lay out the $$. They should have a supplies list, and, hopefully, recommendations as to brands.
Thanks for all the advice. I will definitely do more research before I buy one!
