Hello,
I recently took a new position in a SNF, full time, competitive pay rate, and not the worst of places to work either. Its a fairly new retirement community in a decent section of town, with a large parking lot, and lush surroundings. However , when I began the job, the nurse who was supposed to train me, kept calling in sick. The nurse manager kept apologizing while I did my best and worked alone. I was supposed to have 5 days of training, then on my own. It turned into about a half a shift of training in total. I am not in agreement with the nurse who was supposed to train me, when she said I should have put a chair alarm on a new admit who clearly did not need it, at all, and wanted it removed. I felt it best to D/C, as per my assessment the patient was alert and oriented. This made her mad. All of a sudden, I am getting attitude issues from the DON. It hasn't even been 3 weeks, and she has called me into her office twice. We also have a family member from (you know where) that is constantly screaming at the CNAs. I tried to console the family member, and she was screaming at me. This was one of the reasons I was called into the DONs office. No one processed my new hire paperwork, and I was not issued my first paycheck, so I do not know if I am being paid correctly. No one gave me the benefits info either. I am feeling like I made a huge mistake in taking this job, and really want to quit. Any advice?

If they don't pay you, I'd move on.
And not "we'll cut you a check next week." NOW.

They lied to you from day one, are petty, and haven't paid you.
(Do people really believe this stuff like some story about a person who is supposed to be orienting you calling in day after day??)
Sounds like you need to get your money from these people and find another job.

Move on ASAP! Also, request to be paid for your time and service. If they refuse, report them. No one works for free.
Thank you all. I am quitting tomorrow.
