Second-Entry Nursing Programs - 2014 Hopeful

Published

Hi Everyone!

I'm starting this topic for those who are applying to 2nd-entry programs, to start in 2014.

A bit about myself:

I'll be applying to University of Ottawa and University of Toronto.

Graduated with a Social Science degree from Ottawa U w/ 7.2 CGPA (aka 3.33 on 4.0 scale, or a B+)

A lot of community involvement in health promotion, youth counseling programs, women's health research..

Currently taking the prerequisites...

I'm kind of nervous about the applications because I know how competitive these programs are... Any advice from current 2-year BScN students would be great!

Let's get this thread going

Just got an alternate offer from Trent too. It doesn't make sense as it's for a Honours Science and I already have a Honours Science degree with a 82% in last 10 FCE.

Did you happen to find out if they still keep considering you for nursing admission even though they gave you an alternative offer?

they said it was possible but unlikely this year as the cutoff does not look like it will be lowered from 85% is what I was told. I just received an email today from the nursing admissions saying my credits were being evaluated for transfer credits. Not too sure what that means, if anything.

Hey are you talking about U of T? I have been trying to get an answer from them about that through e-mail. 85% in the last 10 courses right?

Specializes in Pediatrics.

I got accepted to the Humber 2nd entry program today!

I also got an alternate offer from Trent, a little bit surprised/confused about that.

I just got my acceptance at U of T yesterday! Hang in everyone! You should find out soon

Would you mind sharing your cGPA and GPA for last 5 full credits? Also have you finished you degree already?

cGPA was 3.0, last full five credits was 3.7. I just finished a major in psychology and a minor in biology.

That being said, U of T also looks at your letters of recommendation and the PSE.

I'm sure you'll here soon!

I'm hope I hear soon! I have similar stats to you. I have a 3.33 cgpa and 3.75 in last five and sent in two academic and two professional letters.

Once you are given an alternate offer you are no longer considered for the compressed program.

Anyone who applied to Western and had a deferral of admission decision because further grades were required still not heard yet?

Nope, I still haven't.
