Hi Everyone!
I'm starting this topic for those who are applying to 2nd-entry programs, to start in 2014.
A bit about myself:
I'll be applying to University of Ottawa and University of Toronto.
Graduated with a Social Science degree from Ottawa U w/ 7.2 CGPA (aka 3.33 on 4.0 scale, or a B+)
A lot of community involvement in health promotion, youth counseling programs, women's health research..
Currently taking the prerequisites...
I'm kind of nervous about the applications because I know how competitive these programs are... Any advice from current 2-year BScN students would be great!
Let's get this thread going
Hey guys! I got accepted to Ottawa last week. I have a conditional acceptance so I have to finish the Athabasca course by April 15 so I have to work super fast because its a month away and I still have a lot to do. I am excited for Ottawa since I did my undergrad there !
Hi isla88, Is it BIOL235 that you need to finish by April 15? If so, did you take BIOL230 as well or another Anatomy course? I'm confused about them not accepting BIOL 235...
So I have taken two anatomy /physio plus athabasca so 12 credits for that component . I had an 80 GPa and a 4.0 is my masters
Thanks @isla88 and congrats! Ottawa was my top choice because it's where I live, but I was rejected because of BIOL 235 not being sufficient...so I'm waiting to hear from Toronto Queens and UBC!
you can accept an offer and still have your other applications considered by the other schools you've applied to. The only thing is if you get into another school and change your mind then you'd lose your deposit which sucks. I'm waiting to hear from UWO, Queens, York, Mcmaster, and UofT. But my offer from Trent expires on April 4th. I contacted OUAC and they informed me accepting one offer wouldn't cancel my other offers, but I would lose the deposit
Good luck lily!! Toronto really looks at your supplementary application and experiences so if you has that you will be fine ! Did you finish your undergrad ?! Best of luck !!
Thanks @isla88! I'm hoping so! I finished a bachelor and masters and psych...I applied to U of T last year and got in but then went a different route and then within a couple months realized my passion truly was nursing...so here I am again hoping they will accept me a second time! I'm actually working on finishing the third part of BIOL 235 right now...so much material but will be really helpful for nursing school I think! Good luck at U of O! :)

@HenleyGirl06, you can reject the offer after you accept it, but you lose the deposit that you pay when you accept the offer (as the deposit is nonrefundable). My friend applied to UWO and Trent last year and was put on the wait list for UWO for a very long time. She decided to accept the offer to Trent and paid the $350 deposit, only to find out over a month later she got in to UWO. It all depends on you if you want to pay the deposit and lose the money or risk it and maybe not end up with anything.
