One of my friend told me he has to go for SEC ( 2x subjects ) and he has 4 yrs experience. The other friend preparing for FEB CRNE exam and she has no experience , just graduated. Does it make sense ?? Does anybody know how do they access IEN application ? Any feedback.

Just to give an update on my assessment result: I've done well and I'm now eligible to write CRNE:)

hi 5cats congrats!, so how's the assessment, is it pretty hard? how long did you wait for the result? Do you need to undergo educational upgrading and how many moths or days? I'm also scheduled for SEC medical-surgical for 2days in April. Please share some points. thanks

I've done SEC in Saskatchewan, so waiting times might be different, theory I found harder than the practical bit, but I've only done peds and I didn't need any upgrading.

thanks for the reply, i just want to know the actual waiting tme so I can prepare and arrange my budget. I will be doing it in BC, but I'm still deciding if I will do it or accept a study work-based program in UK..So are you working now as a nurse in temp.license? is it easy to get a job if you have temp. license?

By the way, does anyone know or can recommend a cheap accomodation or apartment near Kwantlen University in Surrey BC

But Saskatchewan is a whole different province with different rules, so when I tell you my waiting time what was only a few weeks you cannot compare that, we don't have temp licenses here, just grad nurse license, but I never had one of those. I passed CRNE and was a RN from the beginning.

And to compare a work study program with working as a RN is comparing peaches with apples too. You need to decide what you want.

Regarding planning a budget, the size of the budget will depend on whether or not you know someone you can stay with and whether or not you need upgrading. According to bonginkosi's post the total cost of flights back and forth and accomodations for both the SEC and the required course following the SEC, cost $20,000 see post https://allnurses.com/international-nursing/who-will-need-333610-page3.html

hi 5cats

I'm concerned about the triple jump and clinical judgement because you have to assess yourself at the end of each assessment. Does it mean you have always scored at the HIGH level that's why you didn't need upgrading?

Hi,Any Body has done Bridge to canadian nursing programme after SEC assessment

I don't know how high I scored, good enough not to need any upgrading, that's all I know.

Probably not. The enactment of the Health Professions Act has meant that all previously unregulated staff will be required to upgrade their education and become certified. That includes health care aides, pharmacy technicians and a variety of others who provide hands-on care.
