Seattle University BSN (Transfer) Applicants 2014

Published

I didn't find any threads on Seattle University BSN for Fall 2014; just wanted to know who else is applying!

I was noticing the same thing, Seattletown1. The letter states that I have to meet the math requirement (which I was already aware of) but there are those additional classes listed on my 'program evaluation' sheet: Theological Explorations, Philosophy of the Human Person, Health Care Ethics, Religion in a Global Context, Humanities and Global Challenges, and Social Sciences or Physical/Life Sciences and Global Challenges. It seems to me that those classes will add additional time to my degree. I need to contact them and find out when/how those are to be fulfilled.

Oh, and congrats, japerryman! I can see why you would want to stick close to home; I'm in the sticks, right on the King/Pierce border so I have a heck of a commute no matter where I end up.

Thinking good thoughts for all who are still anticipating their notifications! ((fingers crossed!))

I got my packet today!

Actually it came yesterday (Saturday), but I forgot to check the mailbox. Funnily enough, I was checking the entire week.

I'm so glad the wait is over. Even with the 15K scholarship, I still have to find a way to pay for 40k of it. Does anybody know a place that buys your kidney?

Congrats, ryguy! Oh my gosh, I am totally stressing the finances. I have four young kids and would have a long commute so paying for SU, as bad as I want it, might be unrealistic. Let me know if you find a secret to coming up with loads of cash!

Congrats everyone! I earned my associates in Washington from a CC in pre-nursing, so i have the DTA. SU says I still need:

Theological Explorations (UCOR 2100),

Philosophy of the Human Person (UCOR 2500),

Health Care Ethics (UCOR 2920),

and Humanities and Global Challenges (UCOR 3400).

Does anyone know if we have to take these classes at, during, before or after attending SU this Fall for the nursing program?

Does anyone else have the same courses that need to be completed still?

These are all upper class "core classes" they are already built into the program. You'll take Ucor2100 spring quarter junior year, 2500 fall quarter senior year, 2920 winter quarter senior year and ucore 3400 during summer senior year along with the practicum. All transfer students take them, although I believe if you come in post-bac one or two are waived.

For all you worried about finances, talk with financial aid!! They should be able to help! There are also many scholarships opportunities that are emailed throughout the year.

Congrats to everyone that received their acceptance letter!!

To those that didn't, hang in there! There are many paths to getting a BSN or RN!

I checked online and it still shows my application status as complete. No change there. I really think you will get good news soon...hang in there!! You are incredible applicants that Seattle U would be lucky to have!

My status never changed last year when I was accepted, I don't think they ever update...

I was accepted last year, and I have 3 small kids, and I live about an hour north of seattle. It has been do-able. I am not saying easy-but if you are committed you can do this. Talk with financial aid and see how they can help you! Congrats!

I should find out tomorrow. I just know I will get a denial. I have some prerequisites that I was still working on and they never asked for my grades from winter quarter.

I would still be hopeful. Here is something from the letter that might help.

"Please note that your acceptance is provisional upon satisfactory completion of all nursing prerequisites. Blah blah blah completed prior to beginning the nursing major."

also in the other letter:

"Please note that our offer is contingent upon the successful completion of any coursework that is currently in progress."

So yea. Good luck tomorrow!

Thanks ryguy. I hope you are right.

Hey everyone. I know I should be patient and just wait for the decision to come in the mail but I was just wondering, do you guys think (or remember hearing from somewhere) that all of the acceptances were likely to have been sent out this past weekend? (I think I read this somewhere on last year's forum) Thanks and congrats to everyone who has been accepted!

Hi guys, I actually just found this forum on Friday. Wish I had known about it sooner and that there are others out there worrying about school. Congrats to everyone that has gotten in so far. I am still waiting. My letter is being mailed to NC so not sure when I will find out. I had a question for those that applied, did everyone have the AA or AS for applying or 90 credits and the preqs?
