Seattle U APNI 2014

Published

Is anyone applying to Seattle University's APNI program for summer 2014 start? I know there are a few very useful threads from past years. I'm gearing up and getting a bit anxious!

Congrats, mzaur!

I just found this forum, and wish I had found it earlier! It would have been nice to know I wasn't the only one having problems with the application website, etc.

Just letting everyone know I had my FNP interview this morning, and the interviewers were both lovely. They made it as un-intimidating as possible. So good luck to everyone who has interviews coming up, and try not to stress too much. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be :)

I hate phone interviews. That was rough even though they were really nice.

CNMHopeful I'm sure you did great! It always seems scarier after thinking back to it. I'm on my way to my CNM interview right now!

Ahhh thanks for the positive post Rachel!! That's good to hear!!

Good luck maly14!!! They were crazy nice, you'll do great!

I didn't mean to be negative, sorry guys. I don't want to freak anyone out. I think I eventually got my point across because of some overlap in the questions. The questions were somewhat broad - which is great because you can interpret it several different ways and put a lot of your personality into them. I think I had too many ideas in my head and didn't articulate myself as well as I could have. And they did ask for clarification one time when I didn't make myself clear. They were patient and didn't give any negative feedback at all. Good luck to everyone!!

You weren't negative! I feel the same way now that I'm done. I do also think they were super nice but it was nerve racking & now that I'm done I feel like I rambled a lot & didn't make a whole lotta sense. I think there were a couple times when I kept talking & forgot what their question even was!!! Ahhh I'm ready for a glass of wine.

maly (I think you are the one I was talking to in the waiting room), it was good to meet you in person! I hope you have the good fortune of choosing between PLU and SU - would be a tough one, in my opinion.

YES!! It was me! It was great to meet you too!!! How do you think yours went?

I think I'll end up with PLU. Maybe if you go to SU we can compare our programs & see what they're like!

I really don't know. It seemed to go well for the most part, but I don't trust my gut on these things at all. Board interviews are difficult, more difficult to gauge than one-on-one.

I guess all I can say is that they (the faculty) were great, and I felt like I was able to express myself and convey everything I needed to - so if I don't get accepted, then SU just isn't the right fit for me after all.

I really wish things had worked out with PLU for me. Students get over 1,000 clinical hours there. I asked at my interview how many SU gets, and they said about 680. The higher number of clinical hours, along with the ability to work as an RN for a year or two while earning the MSN, are real advantages of the PLU program in my eyes.

Oh wow thats crazy - I didn't realize the numbers were so different! I wonder why? You'd think not being able to work means they're assigning more clinically to us but maybe not? Wonder if SU is more classroom leaning than PLU? That's super interesting.
