Seattle U - APNI 2012

Published

Anyone already applying at Seattle U? Which track? I haven't finished my pre-req's, so I am probably not too competitive this year, but I am going to apply anyway. I am applying for the nurse-midwife track and my background is Microbiology (UW).

I did notice though that some don't even spell the entire last name, like it cuts off 2 or 3 letters and then puts the first initial. Some have numbers, some start with the first name...

You're right. I saw one that was 4 letters of the first name + 4 letters of the last name, and the last name wasn't even common.

There's hope for us all. Flaneur may have been on to something when he said even those who were accepted were unable to sign into their accounts before getting the letter. Makes sense that all of the usernames can't be formulated in the same way; I suspect this was the problem that those from the previous cohort encountered.

Hi everyone! First, I want to apologize-- I've been an eternal lurker on this thread, but have been too nervous to jinx anything to write on here... but I figured, I have gotten so much out of this thread, so perhaps there is something I can contribute. :)

Background: Did my undergraduate at SU in Cultural Anthropology, and applying for Community and Public Health Nursing track. I love Seattle U and I love Capitol Hill, and Seattle in general! Amazing professors, even more amazing city. I have been working this year as a phlebotomist and assistant at a small walk in clinic. My pre-reqs and GRE were nothing to write home about, but my essay and references are pretty strong I hope.

Calina, Pooja, etc... we will find out soon... fingers crossed for everyone!! And if we don't get in, its okay. It's school. It's not life or death. Even though sometimes it feels like it. :)

PS: I tried Flaner's tip- and I created an email....I hope this is a good sign, but I won't celebrate until a thick envelope is in my hands!! :redbeathe

Welcome sassfrass and congratulations! So exciting.

sassafras, welcome!! I wish more lurkers would join us! It's fun! ;) and I am sure you can and will contribute a lot, thanks for doing this!

It sure looks like you are getting official good news soon, I will say congratulations to you but will keep it low key until you are comfortable with it! ;)

sassafras....CONGRATS!!! :-) did your email login work right away (like when your status changed) or did it take some time?? That is definitely a good sign you are in!!

Thanks guys! And Calinca, def don't worry about not creating an account. I know many people at SU whose login names were not exactly their last name + first initial. Also, the admissions and the nursing departments are not always in sync, so we can't read into it too much. I keep thinking my creating an email was a fluke since I was a student at SU in the past.... maybe it recognized me from before? Eek.

Cheers and good luck to everyone!!

Since you did your undergrad there, did u use the same username? Also, does your status say ASAP?

Leah- I tried it for the first time yesterday and it worked. I don't know when the ability to create the email began though. My status still says the decision will be mailed ASAP. I'm not celebrating until its official- I will be so sad if I get excited now and then get a rejection letter!

Nurse prac- I used the same last name plus first initial as I did in my undergrad. SU gives you about a year after graduation and then they cancel your seattleu.edu email account, so I haven't had access to it in over 3 years, and now I can... but still not sure if this means anything.

Gotcha. I definitely think you're in, for sure. You and Kalium, who are both psych track were able to login so I don't think it's by chance, though I understand your hesitance.

ok there are at least three other Portuguese people with either the same or a variation of my last name. kahn!!!!!!(star trek reference not my last name)
