Seattle U APNI - 2010 Entry

U.S.A. Washington

Published

I was just wondering if anyone out there applied for Seattle U's APNI program. I thought I'd start a thread because it doesn't look like there is one, yet.

I think we're supposed to hear about interviews sometime soon. Has anyone gotten word, yet?

Hey Whitecream: Yes, that is what I have opted to do. I am waiting till April 15th and stopping worrying for now. I was told from DR Jensen (FNP) that we will know by April 15th (something). Hope that helps.

I've thought about that too. I've heard UR is great too. These are tough decision times among us.

April 15th seems to be the know all-end all date. What about the people that have had interviews and still have not received a denial or wait list letter? I have not received anything regarding followup to my interview. I have received no letter of denial, wait list, or acceptance yet nor any e-mail regarding the March 17th event... Hm...

Summing it all up (please add to or adjust for accuracy):

We all make a really good team. Love the organization. Thanks so much Laura Mac.

Pistachio: I am in the same boat as you and have received nothing at all. I was told after sending off an Email about my waitlisted status, so nothing in the mail, ever. I would just give your interviewer an Email if you have heard nothing yet. I live in the Midwest, so maybe mail is just slow from SU.

Hi Everybody,

I have been following the boards for awhile through a friend, but I haven't officially posted until now. I thought it would be a good time to post because I was accepted to the Gerontological Nurse Practitioner specialization. I wanted to let everyone know that I received a welcoming e-mail yesterday which I found confusing because I hadn't received a notification by mail at that point. I hope everybody gets the good news soon. If it helps any, I was interviewed on Feb. 11, 2010. Looking forward to interacting more soon!

One thing that a current 1st year student has said to me is that what makes the intensity of the programme bearable is the cohesiveness of her cohort. It sounds like they really do all they can to support each other. Hopefully whether I end up at SU this year, or next, I'll be able to find like minded community oriented folks.

The classes are so small I wonder why they don't do group interviews.....seems important to me somehow to look at individuals in context and try to find a qualified, diverse, likely to mesh well, group.

Anyhow, keep the info flowing. Also, for anyone interested in the CNM track, I am well versed in the Seattle midwifery community if you have questions or such...I applied for the FNP but am being considered for the CNM as well....? Although I need to sleep or I am not fit for public consumption so I'm not sure it's a good fit for me.

Well, it seems to me that everyone who was accepted or high on the wait-list got the email yesterday inviting them to the meeting next week so I think I'm giving up any hope that I've been accepted. It's been nice having people to share my anxiety and discuss this process with. Good luck everyone :).

This is a bit disconcerting. If I am keeping track correctly, the folks that have been either accepted, wait-listed, or denied all had their interviews in the earlier half of Feb. Is there anyone on the forum currently that had their interview after Feb 15th and have received some type of notification?

PistashioLover, when did you have your interview?

I had mine on Feb. 18th, and still haven't heard anything.

Currently, I also have yet to hear anything by snail mail or email. I had my interview on Feb. 17th and was notified of that only two days in advance. Guess it's a good thing I'm local and have a semi-flexible work schedule. Doesn't it seem odd that they would be having the new student day on the 17th of this month if some people won't find out until April 15th?

Anyways, I empathize with your anxiety and hope to know their decision sooner than later. Good luck to everyone.

If it helps, I also had my interview on the 17th of February and haven't heard from Seattle University since then.
