Moved to Seattle a month ago now and have been searching for a job, Ive applied for numerous positions with all the local hospital systems, VMMC, Swedish, UW, as well as some smaller hospitals Evergreen, Overlake. I havent got much responses though yet, I know its only been a month but any suggestions. I recognize Seattle as being a much more competitive market from where i moved from (ohio/michigan) and only having a year of experience in a stepdown/pcu unit as well as only having my RN could be playing a role as well. looking for some suggestions or help in finding a job. thanks!

Have you tried Multicare or Franciscan health system?

Hmm. I dunno what to tell you. I've seen plenty of jobs at the local hospitals. I applied for 3 different ones a few months ago, and got three job offers within a few weeks. (and I'm nothing special, lol)
One offer came one week after application.
I know in my own hospital, we've had positions with NO applicants (per HR, of course) for months!
Have you considered picking up the phone and calling the managers directly? That's how I got my first job...
Also, if youve applied at multiple places and received no call backs, then it's time to take a hard look at your resume. Look for errors and spruce it up a bit.

I'm moving to Seattle next month from Michigan. I applied to UW, VM, Northwest, and Swedish - within a week I had interviews lined up with all of them, last week I flew out and was offered jobs at all of the facilities (and accepted a position at UW).
Part of it was luck I'm sure; all of these hospitals happened to be hiring for the ICU (I have a year of cardiac ICU experience). I also have my BSN and worked as a tech in the ICUs while in nursing school. I'm sure all of those were factors playing in my favor.
What kind of units are you applying to? Just step down/PCU? How does your resume look (feel free to send it to me and I can look it over for you).
Not having your BSN may be affecting your ability to get an interview at the larger facilities (esp if Magnet status is involved) but probably not as much at the smaller facilities. Try Northwest - their ICU is 15 beds and their nurses frequently float to the step-down unit and sometimes the floor when needed. Best of luck to you!!!!! Something will come along soon just don't give up!

Hi,
I too just got to Seattle and have been applying for a whole month with no calls!
The thing is that I studied in England and I do have a BSN. I haven't actually worked since 2010 and it was in Gynecology.
Can I send my resume to you? I worked as a PCT for 7 months in Atlanta while studying for my NCLEX-RN.
It is sooo depressing. I have applied at UW,Swedish,Multicare,Evergreen, Redmond, NW, kindred, Harborview to name a few!
What can I do? Any help, advice will be greatly appreciated.

I applied to Swedish many months ago (June or May or April) and just got a call this week for an interview. I have almost 1 year of experience in med-surg tele and floating to other med-surg floors. So don't give up hope! I would suggest calling to let them know you are interested.
