Searching for an accelerated Lpn to Rn program anywhere in the Us

All of the programs that I know of are going to take at least one year to complete. However, most have no prerequisites. The schools that do have prerequisites typically have only one or two requirements prior to acceptance.

1. Murray State College (Oklahoma)

2. Brown Mackie (Kansas)

3. Platt College (Oklahoma)

yes I found a few under a yr and they had a long list of prereqs that I don't have. So I better amend my ? to include no prereqs. I would consider a yr. if there are no prereqs. Do the 3 you listed require prereqs?

School #1 is a community college that has one prerequisite (chemistry) and requires LPNs to pass the NLN mobility test prior to admission.

The other two schools are private for-profit programs with lenient entrance exams and no prerequisites needed.

Dang it! I wish I had relatives in those states, it's almost worth it to move there and go to school. I would be completely lost in another state, that would mean finding a place to live, getting a job, school. Maybe we can do it on the buddy system.....Any current LVN's wanna move to Oklahoma LOL!

After graduating from a southern California LVN program, I moved to a state where I had no family and actually attended one of these schools. Although having family in your new state can make the transition smoother, some people can adapt without familiar faces.

In addition, bridging from LPN to RN is so much easier in other states. In California, the community colleges are impacted and the trade schools are horrendously overpriced.

I just got off the phone with Platt in OKC. Im actually considering it, I didnt get the cost yet she will mail me the info...... We'll see what happens, but im not gonna lie, im terrified, ive never left Cali before.

I earned my bach last year bur I remember when I was looking for a lvn to rn; it was not a fun time. :banghead: Each school is different, every state has rules in place, and there is a lot of information that one needs to know about for someone just looking to become a nurse. I wish it were a simple process! :wacky:

I only know 2 but I'm sure others can help with more.

When I did my lvn to rn I did everything in under a year at Unitek College in California.

My niece is enrolled in a lpn to rn program in Tennessee at Motlow College. Their program takes a year.

Both programs are accelerated so you can get working faster.

Although you can do your research here, you should also give a ring to the institution. That's the only way you can find out if a program is right for you and what you plan to do in your future.

I am currently in sunny West Palm Beach, Florida. I've moved all over the place for nursing. California was overcrowded and wait lists out the wazoo, I did score my CNA though. Thought about the online route, but California doesn't accept online nurses, apparently. The program I am in is at the Academy for Nursing. It's a year and about 15-16k, but if you apply for student loans and pell grants, cut it in half and that's about how much you'll pay out in loans. So far, the program is pretty decent. Parking stinks and traffic sucks, then again you're in the city LOL. Good luck!

I know this response is late, but just obtain a license by endorsement in the state where you plan to go to school. The process for me was relatively quick; it only took a month. Most bridge programs want you to have an LPN license in the state where you'll be doing clinicals for liability reasons.
