SDSU BSN Fall 2019

Published

Hi all! I applied to transfer to SDSU's BSN program to start in 2019. I thought I could start a thread where we all could share our stats and experiences. Here are my stats:

Prereq GPA: 4.0

Overall GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 89.3%

This puts me at 68 points as I have no work experience. Good luck to everyone!!!

Hi! I'm applying as a second Bachelor's student, my prereq GPA is 3.88, cumulative is 3.48 and my TEAS score was 97.3. That leaves me with 52 points, which is unfortunately well below the cutoff from the last two years, which advising told me was 64. So I definitely don't have my hopes up for getting in, but I wanted to try since I already live in SD.

Did you call them and ask? About the cut off

The told me via email. Here's what it said:

"The cutoff score for the past two admission cycles (fall 2017, fall 2018) has been 64. The average overall GPA of the fall 2018 admitted class was 3.9, average prerequisite GPA was 3.95, and average TEAS score was 89%."

Hello there! I'm so glad I found this thread! I've also applied for SDSU's BSN program for Fall 2019. My stats are identical to 47RN:

- Prerequisite GPA: 4.0

- Overall GPA: 4.0

- TEAS: 89.3%

- No work experience

Hoping for the best outcomes for all of us. Best of luck to everyone!

Twins! I think we have a pretty good shot, but I’m trying to avoid being too hopeful

Love it! And true, we never know if the cutoff for admission is going to increase since the quality of the applicants increases every year. The waiting begins; hope everyone's hard work pays off ?

hello everyone! I also applied and my points are at 73! good luck to everyone!

Yes!

Does anyone know about the waitlist? Like if there is one, how many people are on it, etc.

I know there is a waitlist, as people have been admitted from the waitlist the past few cohorts.

Though I am not completely sure how many students exactly are on the waitlist, I hear that the SON includes all applicants who meet the minimum requirements on a waitlist, and the SON admits the waitlisted applicants one by one based on who has the highest number of points.

Waitlisted applicants are admitted if any admitted transfer applicants decline their offer of admission or if any direct entry freshmen fail to meet the minimum requirements to stay in the nursing program. The SON tries to get at least 40 transfer applicants per application cycle, and the number can possibly increase if direct entry freshmen get dismissed from the program. Hope this helps!
