I'm sure I've seen this discussed here, but no threads popped up on my search for above topic.

Who's using them? Who hates/loves them & why?
Does your system allow for split sizes?

i only used them at a clinical site. it was good because you never ran out and ours did allow you to split sizes. it was also bad because you were allowed 2 pairs to be out at once. it was also bad because your card didn’t always work, so getting dressed could be a problem within itself.
on the all and all, i think it was good because it saved the facility $$$ with no one wearing them home. i have seen non surgery personnel do that.

I liked it. It allowed for 3 at a time where i was. It certainly prevent people from hording scrubs the day they are restocked. Our cart goes empty quick. In a training facility, every resident in every program feels he can walk into the OR and walk out with a handful of our stuff.

They're not worth it. You can still horde scrubs by returning only 1 piece at a time and still get credited for returning a set of scrubs. For example, return pants and get 1 credit. Return a shirt and get 1 credit. Now you have 2 credits which you can use to remove 2 pants and 2 shirts. You can keep doing this until you get all the scrubs you want.
I suppose the only advantage is that it makes it harder for people who don't have a scrub card to steal scrubs (they can still steal dirty scrubs from a hamper).
If your machine runs out often, just keep an extra pair on your locker.

Our scrub machine, you have to actually return 2 peices to get a credit. The only thing that is "free" are scrub jackets, so I guess you could return two of those and get a credit, and keep the scrubs. And ours don't allow split sizes:angryfire which I am, of course.
The funny thing is, our residents get a cart, no machine for them. And guess who goes home in scrubs, all the time?
Mike, the vending machine where I was at did single parts not pairs. Each retrieved item was counted as one and each return was counted as one. I can see how returning them as a pair could trip up the sensors.

Scrub vending machines? I've never heard of this- how funny. Now I'm gonna have to google it.

I rather like the scrub machine... less laundry for me!! The only real irritation is when the nursing students are trying to get their scrubs and their card doesnt work right yet they continue to try... which is USUALLY the same time i'm trying to get mine!! I may start getting mine before i leave so i dont have to deal with the morning rush.
