Thought I would post another thread on here for the scripps new grad program starting this summer as applications are open for internals and soon will open for externals. I myself am an internal, applied Monday, and have an interview already set for May 7th... Good luck to all!!!
Well it looks like my application never went through. It didn't show up in my recent submitted history right away and I got a weird email saying thanks for submitting to the Summer 2013 program, so I emailed HR and I was told that the email is a template and might not have been changed and that the system was overloaded so it might not update right away. But as of today it still has not updated and it doesn't look like there is any evidence that I applied. What a bummer. I got through everything and was taken to the Talentmine page (but didn't need to complete because I already had in the last 12 months) before 11 am on the first day.
Another opportunity bites the dust.
I heard that sometimes it takes a few days to update everything, specially since the server was bombarded with all of our applications at the same time... Keep your heard up and I'll be crossing my fingers for you hoping your app went through!
We are all on same boat and the support for one another here is awesome! Good luck everyone! :)
Hi all,My interview is 5/7 for DEU La Jolla, super excited and nervous at the same time! Are there any experienced Scripps interviewees on here? If so any tips? Thanks!
Never interviewed for DEU but interviewed for the residency program last December. If it is anything like that, it will be a panel interview in front of 3-5 unit managers in a room of 4 different tables with interviews going on all at the same time; very intimidating! Look your best, be prepared and bring 5-6 copies of your professional portfolio to hand out to each manager. Make sure you get their contact info before you leave! Ask for their business cards so that you can send a follow up thank you card or email. It is so very competitive!! Good luck to you, Chicago Girl!
HI RNnewbieCA55,Have you been through this program?
I have not, I also have an interview for the DEU program, but I know about it because I have completed a lot of clinicals at the facility and the program was explained in some detail at our school during job overviews for the San Diego hospitals. I also learned about it from knowing a person that was accepted into the last cohort, who says they have been enjoying the experience so far. Good luck to all those that got interviews!
I must say, even if I do not get into Scripps, I feel that they are so prompt about their residency program thus far!
They post the opening, they tell you exactly how many positions there are, their HR responds to questions, and they call for interviews FAST! This is how all of the other programs should be. The "up to 3 month" waiting period for others is torture and I find very rude. By the time some of residencies may call, I could have moved on to other things. Granted, I'm an out-of-state new graduate, so my perspective on this is tainted and a bit cocky. I come from a state where people are excited to hire new grads! Remember, we worked our butt off to become nurses! THEY should feel honored to have me, not me crawling on my knees for them. Which is what I feel with the long drawn out residency application/interview processes. Sorry, vent over! Just remember, we are all worth something out there and anyone would be honored to have you!

The DEU does not have the 500 rule, its only for Scripps La Jolla so it was a much smaller number, like 30 or so. The DEU is the dedicated education unit and has oncolgy/med-surg patients and is where all new grad nurses start and work with clinical mentors. It cycles every 10 weeks with new nurses and there is sim lab and other learning that is incorporated to strengthen the new nurse and make them very comfortable and competent. After you complete your residency you can apply for transition programs for other units, such as PCUs, ICU, ED, med/surg. Hope that helps a few of you that dont know anything about it!
