Scripps new grad program summer 2013

U.S.A. California

Thought I would post another thread on here for the scripps new grad program starting this summer as applications are open for internals and soon will open for externals. I myself am an internal, applied Monday, and have an interview already set for May 7th... Good luck to all!!!

They had a lot of other new hires to see before new grads I guess. Busy! They should have returned phone calls by now.

Does anybody know what time (hour of the day) the DEU application will open?

Is there a 500 applicant limit as well? Or is that just for the system-wide program?

Hello YS. What is DEU? Is it anything like new grad residency where the nurse spends several months in one particular unit?

Thanks.

Hi I am getting ready to apply for their Fall application. Do you by any chance have the questions they asked. I wanted to start working on them so when I apply I will have it ready. Thanks.

Specializes in NICU.

Hey maleRN444! If you check out the Scripps website and click around to find the new grad residency programs you'll get a better definition of their DEU program and when each application will be available. "DEU" means "Designated Education Unit" and from what I understand it's another type of residency program that Scripps offers. Off of the top of my head, I'm not sure whether or not it is unit-specific.

Who all applied? Let's keep each other updated on rejections/interview dates! I used to be patient at one point during this job hunting process but that has officially flown out the window! :)

Hi Erin44RN, I actually created a post for their fall program. That way we can keep each other informed of what is going on. I put the link to it below.

Hi NucRN. I am selected for an interview for the DEU for Oct/Jan start. This is my 2nd time applying for DEU this year as I was not selected last time. Any tips?

Can I also ask the following:?

a. how many interviewers on the panel consisted of when you were interviewed for DEU? I want to know how many many will be interviewing me so I can prepare a separate portfolios

b. what did they ask you during the interview? what are they looking for in candidates applying for DEU?

c. do they have like skills test and/or separate class just like the RN residency program?

d. are you are following your primary RN or secondary RN's schedule?

e. I am currently pursuing my BSN at SDSU. Would they consider placing me with an RN that fits my school schedule? or would they prefer a candidate that has no commitment (e.g. going to school) and just focus on working for DEU?

I really want this so bad. Your input and tips would be greatly appreciated.

Cassy628, I'm also in the August cohort in the DEU :)

Cheesyguy when did they called you for an interview?? I also applied for this position and was wondering if I still have a chance.

I applied online last monday and I got an email the following day. I applied the "Internal Candidates only" link since I'm a current Scripps employee. There is a separate link for for external candidates during that time frame (closed yesterday).
