I called this school and actually found out that you will have to move to Texas in order to enroll. THey have a specific med. center they want you to do the clinicals at.

Specializes in LTC,Med surg-Telemetry,alzheimers,home h.

I just applied for their RN-BSN online program for the summer. I don't think you have to move to TX for the online program. I think its only for the generic BSN .

I spoke with the coordinator of the program. She said you do have to move to TX for the year. :-(

This is for people who are NOT nurses but seek a second degree in Nursing.

Why does it seem difficult for people like us who are looking for online education in nursing to find a school that will accept us...My dilema is that my home state is very picky and wont accept Exselsior or Chamberlain as options.....It's just frustrating because I'm a BA in a non nursing field and I want to go back for a 2nd degree but there are limited options for me.....I know I'm not the only one in this position....sighhhhhhh

I know, you are absolutely right. I have a BS also and have 2 more courses to complete an MBA-healthcare Admin. But i also want to do the 2nd BSN degree and they would not accept Chamberlain and Excelsior would not accept me b/c i am not an LPN. Frustrating. Thats all i can say. The only other option is to quit my job and go to school full time in the day (didn't want to do that). I just dont know.

Janmeli as long as you already hold a BA & are in the process of an MBA, if I were you....I'd do the ASN at Chamberlain.....you might be able to transfer some of your credit from your BA & MBA towards your BSN.....although it may take a little longer, YOU STILL HAVE AN OPTION.....in California, I HAVE NO OPTION.....Unfortunately since I let my sciences slide, I have to retake THEM ALL (which I have no problem doing) and then when I apply to traditional RN program I will have points taken off because I'm retaking classes even though I PASSED them all the 1st time around....now that really sucks for me.....so if I want to do the traditional route I have to do the LVN first and backtrack to a certificate in nursing because of that...they don't have a time frame like the RN program does....so I'm stuck.....you have an option, I'd take it in a heartbeat if I were you.....Good Luck :)

HI CNAIsANurse2b, so i called chamberlain and they said that the ASN would not be available to me cause my state, NY, would not recognize it and seeing that I do not have an RN degree already, makes it even more difficult. This is so frustrating, i thought i was finally going to be in....:scrying: Anyway, thanks for your vote of confidence )

Janmeli I totally feel your pain, I'm getting the same run around bull too.....I run into so many brick walls my head is beginning to hurt.....I didn't know you were in NY, but I know that Chamberlain wont accept students from California, New York, and Washington because these great states with nursing shortages (and are hiring foreigners) wont recognize a school within the US who is nationally accredited.....but I'm looking everyday and if I do find something I will let you know.....

I heard that New York won't accept Chamberlain for initial licensure because they won’t allow you to have clinical there but they will give you a license after you get one from another State. I’m not from New York and I heard that from another person so you should double check.
