Hi all:
Read a few mentions from people applying to ABSN programs (as second degree) that they are planning to look for scholarships. I know schools don't offer scholarships (except in some exceptional cases) to second degree students. Where are you planning to look? Can anyone recommend resource?
Thank you.
Anyone any ideas on this?

Well...you cant apply for most till you are accepted...so once I get accepted Im going to research and apply for as many as I find. There are plenty that are for second careers as well as just BSN in general. So...no harm in trying them all!
Just do a search on google for nursing scholarships.

There is a scholarship offered to second-degree students called the Robert Wood Johnson New Careers in Nursing Scholarship. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation provides certain ABSN programs grant money which in turn they convert into scholarship money for a certain number of accepted students. They award is usually $10,000 per student! You have to apply for this scholarship directly through the schools that get the money, not through the foundation.
Here are the schools that participate: http://www.newcareersinnursing.org/current-programs/school-profiles/
Here is the criteria for awarding the scholarships: http://www.newcareersinnursing.org/apply/eligibility-criteria
... and contrary to popular belief, you do NOT have to be a minority to get this award, Caucasians get this award as well.
Thank you, Paco-RN, do you know if you have to be accepted to apply?
That's actually great to know, because I heard about his from Quinnipiac here in CT, but they definitely positioned it as a scholarship for groups underrepresented in nursing (men, minorities).
Yes, you are sent instructions by the school to apply for the scholarship after you are accepted.
