Scared to take NC 1!

Published

Hello everyone! I was on this site a lot this past summer asking/talking a lot about Excelsior.. Well, I enrolled last fall before the changes took place and have done absolutely nothing (stress @ work, death in the family etc..)! In January, I signed up to take NC 1 for Feb. 18th. I've been studying for about a week with a TCN work study guide. I have the required text books, but they bore me to death. I took a practice exam in Oct. and scored a 62 with no studying at all.

I guess what I'm asking, does anyone have POSITIVE experiences with only utilizing these publishing guides and minimal (if any at all) reference to the texts?

Same here...I got a 78 and 79 on the practice tests and ended up with an A on the actual test! You can do it!

I scored in the 70s on the practice exams and got a B on the real thing. :) The only nursing concept exam I didn't get an A on, but oh well ... I'll survive. :D

Thank you so much for your responses! You have all made me feel much more confident! Still nervous, but feeling a little better about the situation!

Remember NC 1 talks about mild anxiety...well that's the kind of anxiety that will help you to read all the questions and answers and do your best! Good luck and let us know how it goes!

what do you have to have to pass? or what is their grading scale? At my current 78% is passing, anything under is failing.

You get a letter grade for the exam; you need a C to pass.

I read a fundamentals book, and am using studygroup 101. I improved slightly on test B with a 78.

What is study group 101?

A seller of study materials on eBay: http://myworld.ebay.com/studygroup101 -- I used them for a few tests and found the materials to be wonderful!

in reference to studygroup 101, You can receive it instantly by computer when you purchase it or you can get as a disc. I received the disc through the mail. I purchased nc 1-7. It truly did help me to pass Health Safety. I am currently studying lifespan. I don't think they have prerequite courses. But believe me they pack a lot of info.

I noticed the other day that StudyGroup101 has A&P available now. Nice! I wish they'd had it when I took it! :)
